PROJECT MOVE AT GLENWOOD LANDING SCHOOL
GWL Fifth Graders Take the Stage for a Live Performance of Project Move

Project MOVE is a unique arts-in-education program powered with a mission to raise leaders through the arts. The program is designed around building confidence, self-love, motivation, teamwork, and healthy exercise habits to ensure a positive experience and student activities include acting out different scenarios, crafting their own costumes, and dancing to the beat.

During the week of May 18-21, Glenwood Landing fifth graders took the stage in front of their parents and friends to be the stars of this culminating Project MOVE performance. Students enthusiastically participated in this energetic, creative performance that combines different programs that meet each individual school’s goals. Programs include “hip hop dance, music, yoga, theatre, arts, dance, and cheer.” In addition, students in all grades can work with the Project Move team throughout the course of the year.

The fifth graders have many wonderful opportunities during their last year at Glenwood Landing School. This is just one that allows them to be creative, collaborate with students, be leaders, and perform in front of their peers! Many of them have already been involved in leadership opportunities through clubs and activities since the beginning of the 2025-26 school year.

Thank you to the GWL-SCA for their support of this interactive, educational arts program. To learn more about Project Move, please visit https://www.projectmoveny.org/

SC NATIONAL CIRCUS PROJECT
The Circus Comes to Sea Cliff School

During the week of May 11th, the National Circus Project came to Sea Cliff Elementary School for a week-long event that combined physical fitness with circus fun and proficiency. K-5 students had workshops led by professionals.
The circus festivities culminated with an in-school student circus performance featuring Sea Cliff fifth graders who spun plates, tossed diablos, balanced on stilts, laughed with the clowns, and juggled into the hearts of all those in attendance!

The National Circus Project (NCP) is an innovative cultural arts organization, which promotes student participation in school arts and physical education activities, using “circus” as its theme. The National Circus Project sends teams of internationally acclaimed circus performer/instructors to schools throughout the U.S.A., where they present exciting circus assembly performances, teach circus skills to students as part of their physical education program – including juggling, balancing, plate-spinning, and devil stick manipulation. These activities promote hand-eye coordination, concentration, the benefits of discipline and practice, and group skills.

Many thanks to the Sea Cliff PCA and all the physical education teachers and staff for putting on such an entertaining performance!

GH 5TH GRADE FUN DAY
North Shore Fifth Graders Come Together to Meet and Compete!

Under bright blue skies yesterday, fifth graders in all three North Shore elementary schools gathered on the HS Stadium Field to participate in their Fun Day! Ready to meet new friends, students formed teams to compete in many fun games including favorites like tug-of-war, water brigade, water balloon toss, and various relay races – just to name a few!

Fun day is designed to enable the fifth graders to meet their incoming sixth grade classmates who will all be attending North Shore Middle School in September. It enables students to collaborate, solve problems, compete, get exercise, and meet new friends all while having a great time!

Not only did everyone have to show good sportsmanship but the different activities tested hand-eye coordination, throwing and catching skills, kicking and running abilities, dexterity, and balancing proficiency.

Three cheers to all the fifth graders and their wonderful physical education teachers and faculty who participated in this awesome Fun Day! See you all at North Shore Middle School in the Fall!

Dear North Shore Families, Faculty, Students, and Staff,

This holiday weekend, the North Shore Schools remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and whose selfless commitment to others inspires us daily.

Throughout our in-school events this past week and our students' participation in our local Memorial Day parades and celebrations this weekend, we strive to teach our students how this day represents our collaborative dedication to the common good as we remember those in our community and across the nation who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our core values and freedoms.

We hope everyone has a peaceful and relaxing Memorial Day weekend, and we look forward to a great end to our school year.

Sincerely,

Dr. Z and the North Shore Schools
