For this week’s training, headed back out to the Andrew A. Castiglione Fire Training Building to focus on our ladder skills.

Crews worked through various scenarios, practicing different techniques to safely, efficiently, and effectively remove victims from a building. These hands-on training opportunities help ensure our firefighters are prepared when seconds count.

While returning to the station, our firefighters were requested to assist with rescuing a small kitten trapped in a drain.

We’re happy to report that the kitten, appropriately named Storm, was successfully rescued and is now doing well and resting comfortably!

Shortly after 11am, were dispatched to a capsized boat with multiple individuals in the water. Rescue Boat 10 responded from Station 10 and quickly made contact with the individuals in the water. We are pleased to report that all individuals were safely from the water with no reported injuries.
We would like to thank the Lakeviewpdtx and City of Nassau Bay, Texas EMS for their assistance on this call.
Incidents like these highlight the importance of training, preparedness, and strong partnerships among our neighboring public safety agencies.

Over the weekend, we held our Annual Banquet and Installation of Officers; a special evening to come together, celebrate another year, and recognize the people who make our Department what it is.
We would especially like to thank all of our sponsors and donors whose generous contributions helped make this evening possible and allowed us to provide our members with a small token of appreciation. Your continued support of our Department and its members means more than we can say.
We also want to give special recognition to our Banquet Committee, and their spouses, for the countless hours spent planning, organizing, and preparing for this event. Much of this work happens behind the scenes, and we are incredibly grateful for the time and effort you dedicate each year to making the banquet special.
Last, but certainly not least, thank you to each and every member of our Department. The time you spend training, responding to calls, attending community events, and being there when your neighbors need you is what makes this Department successful. As an all-volunteer department, that commitment means time away from your families, careers, and personal lives…and it does not go unnoticed. We would not be the Department we are today without your service, dedication, and continued commitment to our community.

During our weekly training last night, focused on vehicle rescue techniques.
Assistant Chief Castiglione led members through the proper use of rescue airbags, which can provide much needed space when crews need to gain access to a patient during a vehicle rescue.
Providing our members with hands-on experience and the skills needed to safely and effectively respond when called upon is another example of our Department’s forward approach to training. We never know what the next call will bring; but we know that our firefighters are prepared when it comes.

have once again been dedicating countless hours training to ensure that we are able and ready to respond to different emergencies.

On Saturday, we renewed our CPR skills at a class held at the Fire Station. Once of the services that we provide to our citizens is to to medical emergencies in Seabrook and El Lago. Having quality trained personnel on scene in the event of a cardiac arrest means the difference between life and death.

On Monday evening, we trained at the Andrew A Castiglione Fire Training Tower and participated in a live burn. This allowed our crews to effectively train in the event we are dispatched to a structure fire. Having our Fire Training Tower in our own city allows us to keep our units in the city while still meeting our training objectives.

We once again are very grateful for the citizens of Seabrook and city staff at helping us achieve this goal.

SVFD Weekend Wrap Up

assisted the Port Houston Fire Department with their agility testing for potential new hires. Working with our neighboring stakeholders helps to ensure that when we need their assistance that call will be answered.

Early Sunday morning we responded to a major accident in the 3300 block of NASA Parkway where a fire hydrant was also involved.

Only 102 minutes had passed since American Airlines Flight 11 first struck the tower.
Many who entered those buildings to save others would never return home.
We pause to remember their extraordinary courage, selflessness, and sacrifice.
