Work along Lampson Avenue, between Candleberry Avenue and Heather Street, begins this Friday, October 16, 2026. Crews will be saw‑cutting on Friday, with excavation starting Monday as part of sewer line improvements for the new treatment system at the Lampson Well site. Work will continue in phases across Lampson Avenue for approximately four weeks. Please slow down, follow traffic control, and stay aware in the area. We appreciate your patience as we complete these important upgrades.

🐢 Spot a Sea Turtle? Report It!

Mayor Lisa Landau had the opportunity to sit down with Jeff Seminoff, NOAA Marine Turtle Ecology Program Lead, to share important information with our residents and visitors about what to do if they encounter a sea turtle along our coastline.

Seal Beach made history with the first documented Olive Ridley sea turtle in Surfside on the West Coast of the United States. This remarkable sighting highlights the importance of reporting sea turtles and supporting ongoing research and conservation efforts.

The public plays an important role in protecting sea turtles and helping our experts. If you spot a sea turtle, please report the sighting using one of the numbers below:

Swell from Hurricanes Odalys and Polo, combined with rising high tides, could affect Seal Beach over the next several days. The City is preparing for possible impacts including elevated surf, beach erosion, strong rip currents, and coastal flooding. Residents who may be impacted are advised to take preparedness actions now for these conditions through Wednesday, with the highest risk currently expected on Monday and Tuesday.

✅ PREPARE YOUR HOME: Stage sandbags, move cars from flood prone areas, secure emergency supply kits, and confirm household emergency plans.

✅ MONITOR FORECASTS: Conditions may change. Stay updated at www.weather.gov

It’s National Preparedness Month! This week’s focus: make a plan. Emergencies don’t wait for a convenient time. Does your family know what to do? A good plan covers:
✅ Emergency contacts: a list of family, friends, and an out-of-town contact everyone can reach
✅ Meeting places: one spot near home and one outside the neighborhood, in case you can’t get back to your home
✅ Medical information: allergies, medications, conditions, and insurance information for every family member
Connect with your household this week and put it in writing so everyone knows what to do. Discuss different scenarios and gameplan contingencies. A few minutes now can make all the difference later!

BEACH PARKING LOT CLOSURES
Out of an abundance of caution and to protect life and property during the anticipated elevated surf and coastal flooding conditions, the City of Seal Beach is temporarily closing the 8th Street and 10th Street beach parking lots through Wednesday morning.
The Seal Beach Pier is NOT closed and remains open at this time.
The City continues to closely monitor forecasts, tides and coastal conditions in coordination with the National Weather Service and Marine Safety.
The parking lot closures are a proactive precautionary measure, and conditions will continue to be evaluated throughout the event.
Please use caution near the shoreline, obey all posted warnings, and follow directions from Marine Safety personnel.
We appreciate the community’s cooperation as we work to keep everyone safe.
