Today we celebrate our very own FF/EMR Kendahl Stillman, on her graduation from high school!

Pictured with her mom and dad, Kendahl comes from a family that truly embodies the spirit of service. Her dad, Isaac, volunteers with Seal Rock Fire, and her mom Jennifer is an active member of the Auxiliary. Together, they have set an incredible example of dedication, compassion, and giving back to their community.

Kendahl has already followed in those footsteps through her own service as a Firefighter/EMR, demonstrating a commitment to helping others well beyond her years. It’s inspiring to see a family so devoted to making a difference and supporting those around them.

As Kendahl turns the page to a new chapter, we couldn't be prouder of all she has accomplished. We wish her every success, happiness, and opportunity that the future has to offer.

Congratulations, Kendahl! Your future is bright, and we can't wait to see where your journey takes you. 🎓❤️🚒

Fire season is coming fast, so Capt. Gilbert, Lt. Brown, and Lt. Spangler headed down to Molalla for the Metro Advanced Wildland School (mAWS).

We were fortunate enough to participate in day one, which was perfect for letting us focus on a few of our specific training needs.

If you’ve never been, this school isn't a classroom seminar where you sit and drink coffee—it’s hands-on live drills designed to shake off the winter rust and bridge the gap between structural firefighting and wildland realities.

It was a huge opportunity to get into the dirt and knock out those hard-to-clear Task Book requirements for FFT1, Engine Boss, and Strike Team Leader. From progressive hose lays and mobile attacks to high-pressure structure triage, the instructors made everyone earn every single signature.

It was a grueling day, but we’d much rather burn the fuel, take the beatings, and master the tactics now.

Putting in the work today means that when the real dispatch tones drop this summer, our crews will operate safer, move faster, and make sure everyone comes home in one piece.

Proud of these guys for stepping up, putting in the work and using their time to better themselves for response when needed!

For Immediate Release

To the Communities of Seal Rock and East Lincoln County:

My name is Cara Ammons, and I serve as the Public Information Officer (PIO) for both the Seal Rock and East Lincoln County Fire Districts.

Recently, an anonymous social media post made serious allegations regarding our leadership's integrity, specifically accusing our districts of unauthorized trademark use and misleading the public regarding the global organization Firefighters Without Borders (FWB).

In the fire service, integrity, truthfulness, and strength of character are not just words—they are the foundation of public trust. When questions are raised about our standards, we do not hide behind anonymity, and we do not evade the facts. We address them directly.

Here is the truth regarding this matter:

1. Proactive Leadership and Accountability-
Long before these anonymous allegations were posted, our administration chose to lead with character. To ensure our local operations were beyond reproach, we proactively contacted the international trademark holders of Firefighters Without Borders on again on a separate occasion.
Our goal was simple: practice the absolute transparency we preach, review our local terminology, and ensure we were in full alignment with legal and ethical standards.

2. The Facts from Firefighters Without Borders-
Following our direct outreach and a constructive review, the international organization provided their official response. They explicitly confirmed that our local, colloquial use of phrasing to describe our volunteer recruitment and regional mutual aid efforts did not constitute a violation of their trademark, nor did it conflict with their global humanitarian mission.

3. Introducing Emergency Responders Without Borders-
True integrity means going above and beyond the bare minimum of the law. Even though the global organization confirmed our past and current usage was legally acceptable, our leadership decided to eliminate even the slightest room for confusion or misinterpretation.

Moving forward, our joint regional initiatives will operate under a fresh, distinct identity: Emergency Responders Without Borders. Under this name, We Stand United as One to protect our families, transcend traditional boundaries, and deliver seamless mutual aid.

4. Absolute Clarity of Identity-
While we embrace this new regional identity, I want to be unequivocally clear with our residents: We remain your local, independent emergency services providers.

We have never claimed to be a chapter, partner, or extension of the international non-profit.
Our new name, Emergency Responders Without Borders, represents our local personnel’s dedication to crossing district lines to assist our neighbors in times of crisis.

Moving Forward-
Character is revealed in how you handle criticism. While an anonymous keyboard can be used to tear down and cast doubt, our "boots on the ground" volunteers are out there every day building this community up, responding to emergencies, and saving lives.

We will continue to operate with the highest ethical standards, keeping our focus exactly where it belongs: serving Seal Rock and East Lincoln County with honesty, transparency, and pride. As Emergency Responders Without Borders, We Stand United as One.

Respectfully submitted,

Cara Ammons

Fire Drill Training: Mobile Attack aka the ole Pump & Roll

Did you know a wildfire does not need a forest to become dangerous? A field of dry grass can carry fire at incredible speeds, turning a small spark into a rapidly spreading fire.

That's why today's training focused on the Mobile Attack—a tactic used to quickly stop grass fires before they have a chance to grow.

Crews practiced moving alongside the fire's edge, working as a team to put water directly on the flames while keeping the apparatus in a safe position.

Success with this tactic comes down to communication, teamwork, and staying aware of changing conditions on the fireline.

With the potential for a hot, dry fire season ahead, now is the time to train. The best way to fight a wildfire is to be prepared before the smoke is in the air.

At Seal Rock Fire we train like we practice, and practice like we train!!

What that means to you??

It means, we believe in performance in high-stakes moments that relies entirely on the habits we build during our preparation!

Before anyone asks: No, the city is not delivering coffee through the water lines.

Brown water is from hydrant flushing and should clear up soon.

Hydrant flushing is crucial to ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of our community's hydrants.

While residents may experience temporary water discoloration during this essential process, rest assured it's a result of natural minerals and excess air flow and continues to meet safe water standards.

To clear the water of discoloration—simply flush lines with cold water for up to 20 minutes. If persistent discoloration occurs, contact the Seal Rock Water Department by phone at 541-563-3529 for further assistance.
