June is National PTSD Awareness Month & PTSD Awareness Day is June 27.
There are many great resources available for those that suffer from PTSD.
We wanted to share some of those resources with you!

➡️ The National Center for PTSD provides an overview of how common PTSD is among children and teens, including statistics on trauma exposure and the likelihood of developing PTSD.

➡️ The National Institute on Mental Health provides a comprehensive overview of PTSD, including what it is, common symptoms, how it develops after traumatic events, and how it can affect daily functioning.

➡️ The National Child Traumatic Stress Network has a list of PTSD-related resources as well as other helpful resources!

If you or your child suffer from PTSD, these are some great places to learn more about that.

💙 Thankful Thursday 💙

This week, we continue to be incredibly grateful for the amazing ways our community showed up for children throughout April Child Abuse Prevention & Awareness Month!

A huge thank you to the wonderful employees of First Security Bank for putting on a “Jeans for Justice” day and generously donating to the Child Safety Center so they could wear jeans to work the last Friday of April! What a fun and meaningful way to help empower, protect, and restore children in our community who have endured abuse.

We are also so thankful to Greg Rowden, Gene Morris, and the Sonics of Searcy for generously donating a $100 Sonic gift card as part of our Carhop for Kids fundraiser giveaway! Congratulations to Vicki Bates-who also happens to be an employee of First Security Bank-for winning the drawing after helping us spread the word about the fundraiser!

Thank you all for the creative, generous, and heartfelt ways you helped make April such a meaningful month for children and families served by the CSC. We are so grateful for this community! 💙

Some of the hardest work we do is made a little lighter by the coworkers beside us.

Grateful for this sweet partner —his calm, steady presence brings comfort not only to the children we care for, but to our staff as well. In the middle of difficult moments, he reminds us what quiet compassion looks like.

Some clients really form a strong attachment to our facility dogs. This particular client always asked if Enzo could be in her therapy session.

If he was available, He Was There.

Enzo was right there beside her for over 30+ sessions, helping her stay calm and supported through some really tough moments. It’s been special to watch their bond over time.

The work our dogs do is pretty incredible, and we’re so grateful for the role they play in restoring the lives of children

May is widely recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month!

Mental health is no longer a taboo topic, thankfully. Many across different spectrums continue to shine the light on the importance of Mental health. From professional athletes to those in the entertainment industry, to Child Advocacy Centers.

We, at the CSC, are doing our part to meet the needs of our clients, either by referring them to services when appropriate, or seeing clients on site. We believe mental health is as important as physical health. So we want to continue to help shine the light on this, especially this month, but also year round!

Click the link in the comments to view Mental Health Month 2026 for helpful information and other resources! Thankfully, they also have resources in Spanish!

If a child decides to disclose something to you, what you say matters more than you think.
If a child shares something concerning, here are a few things to avoid:

“Are you sure that happened?”
“Why didn’t you tell someone sooner?”
“What were you doing when it happened?”

Even when we don’t mean harm, these responses can make a child feel scared, blamed, or unsure if they should keep talking.
Instead, try:

“I’m really glad you told me.”
“You’re not in trouble.”
“I believe you.”
“I’m here to help.”

You don’t have to have all the right words—just being calm, supportive, and willing to listen can make all the difference.

A child’s first response from a safe adult can shape what happens next—and help them get the support they need.

If a child shares something concerning, it’s important to make a report to the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-482-5964

Please join us in wishing Jansen a very Happy Birthday! As one of our mental health therapists, she serves children in their journey toward healing and restoration through trauma therapy.
Jansen is our resident keeper of all fun and competitive staff games, a proficient pickler, a safe hideaway for a certain facility dog, and has a quick wit that comes in below the radar but never fails to induce a smile or chuckle. She is full of compassion and kindness for all those she encounters. Happy Birthday, Jansen!
