Below is copied from a post that I released to the committee yesterday. I hope this post will clear up a lot of very inaccurate comments.

I have spent most of the day dealing with responsibilities that I would rather of not had.
When one looses a friend of 36 years you would like to mourn and reflect.
I was not afforded that opportunity. I was thankful for Judge Lisa Brown’s ever calm presence, persistence in the arena of kindness and professional approaches to every issue I brought to her. She was a friend, co-worker, and fellow servant. I did not post this morning, as I felt it inappropriate. But now I feel is the time.
I am tasked with the issue of making sure the Republican Party is represented. Lisa, as she insisted that I call her, was the only candidate on the ballot for County Judge. She was the Republican candidate.
So, now as the Republican Chairman for White County, I must follow the rules.
While I am very familiar with the two inch binder of rules. It would be prudent and wise to consult those that deal in RPA matters daily. It is at this point that I will make you aware that time is an issue. A very important issue, that you will come to see as I navigate through this post .
I contacted the executive Director and Chairman of the RPA. I learned I have until Wednesday to finalize the person that would fill that ballot position.
The Chairman gave me specific instructions as to what I was supposed to do. I did exactly what he said. I spent the better part of the day getting things done. Per the RPA Chair, I delivered to Governor Sanders a letter notifying her of the vacancy and that White County Republican Committee would follow the law in replacing that ballot position.
Now let me explain how this works.
1st regarding continuity of government. Government leaders prepare ordinances in advance as to what will happen in the event of their demise or inability to act in their official positions. White County has responsibly done this and unfortunately had to invoke the ordinance that names the judges successor until the Quorum Court  can nominate someone to fill the vacancy that is appointed by the governor. That appointment is in effect for the remainder of Lisa’s term 12-31-2026. If the Republican Party were to fail in bringing forth a candidate the appointment would continue serving. If there is a Republican candidate, the appointed person cannot run against them.

This is where I go back to my responsibility and frankly what I consider the more democratic process. An election. Now it’s not the kind of election I prefer, but I am bound by the rules.
The rules say that the party must reconvene in convention and that only the delegates can vote.
So the executive board met for two hours tonight. The process of electing a Republican candidate for judge must be done by Tuesday.
So, if you are a candidate, pay attention.
On Tuesday August 18th at the Carmichael Community Center from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, you will file with the party. The filing fee is $2,000.00.
That same Tuesday night at 7 pm we will have a meeting calling us into convention. There will be seating only for delegates. The delegate will listen to each candidate for specified amount of time and a couple of supporters for a specified amount of time.
The candidate will leave the room and the delegates will vote. The winner will be certified the following Wednesday morning at the clerks office.
I know there are emotions and opinions. I have heard already comments that are not nice and absolutely incorrect.
There are some things I will say post election, if they continue.
The political dragon is rearing its ugly head and contrary to some beliefs I will not dishonor Lisa’s service by engaging in political maneuvering.
There are those that think we should do nothing and allow the QC appointee to serve in the interim capacity, the remainder of this term and the next 4 years. Further stating that was Lisa’s desire. I dont doubt that. But one’s desire does not outweigh our responsibility to allow others the opportunity to serve through a duly elected and established process. The do nothing is not an option it is a consequence. A consequence of no one filing for position.
I encourage people who are interested in this kind of service to file. I have had 5 or 6 express their desire to run for the position.
Candidates prepare your best stump and we will see yall next Tuesday night at 7pm at the Carmichael Community Center.
Lisa we will miss you, but if we even care about all this, I’ll tell you all about it when my time comes to be where you are.
