Banking spoof calls are tricking customers into emptying accounts as victims report losing thousands to scammers posing as bank fraud departments.

We have a deceased deer from an auto accident available. Call Waldo County Dispatch at 338-2040 if interested. It will go to the first person that calls in and is able to pick it up.

Update: Deer has been claimed.

We have an approximately 100 lb. deer available that was killed this morning after being involved in a motor vehicle accident. It is not in bad shape and is available to anyone who would like it. First come, first serve.

In all seriousness, we have vehicles that exit our building from the side and having vehicles using our yard as a roadway is not safe for us or you.

As the new school year begins, let’s work together to keep our students safe.

Last year, we saw an increase in drivers illegally passing school buses while their red lights were flashing. This is dangerous, illegal, and puts children at serious risk.

👉 This year, let’s aim for ZERO incidents.
When the lights are flashing and the stop-arm is out—STOP. No exceptions.

Our kids count on all of us to get them to and from school safely. Let’s do our part. 💛🚌

🔥 EXTREME HEAT WARNING – STAY SAFE, SEARSPORT! 🔥

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for Searsport and Interior Waldo County from 11 AM until 8 PM EDT today. Heat index values are expected to reach as high as 107.

With the heat and humidity in the forecast today and tomorrow.... it's always good to remind ourselves of the dangers of being in the heat. Here's how to tell the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Be careful!

🚨 SCAM ALERT – FAKE BMV MESSAGES 🚨

We’ve received reports of scammers sending text messages and emails claiming to be from the BMV, stating that you have unpaid tickets and must pay immediately to avoid license suspension or legal action.

These messages often include a link to a fake payment site or a phone number to call. Do NOT click the link or provide any personal or financial information.

⚠️ REMEMBER:
✅ The BMV will not threaten immediate action via text or email over unpaid tickets.
✅ Government agencies do not demand payment through gift cards, wire transfers, or prepaid debit cards.
✅ If you’re unsure about a message, contact the BMV directly through their official website or customer service number.
