The Monterey Bay Foreign Language Project (MBFLP) has served the world language teachers in Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties since 1997 by providing on-going professional development. Our programs and seminars are grounded in the concepts featured in the California’s Foreign Language Framework and Standards for Teaching, and are designed to increase the literacy of students in the targ

et language as well as in English. All programs are conducted by the MBFLP Leadership Team of active language teachers who exemplify and encourage effective teaching practices, professional collaboration, and leadership in their schools and communities in accordance with the goals of the 2001 No Child Left Behind Act. MBFLP has its home in WLC, and is sponsored through the Foreign Language Project (CFLP)California Subject Matter Projects' (CSMP).

We will focus on the High Leverage Teaching Practice #8: Planning for Instruction Using an Interactive Process for Backward Design. You'll design a unit tailored for your own classroom while exploring and applying best practices in world language teaching. Along the way, you’ll collaborate with a dynamic community of educators, tapping into the collective creativity, expertise, and support of our team and fellow participants.
