Over here at the Weekly, we’ve long recognized the immense value that local nonprofits contribute to the community. Since our first print edition in 1988, we’ve been consistently reporting on their important work and the many ways nonprofit organizations make this community so wonderful. A decade ago, we decided we could help in another way, supporting the change they create through our own (and y
our) charity. We established the Weekly’s Community Fund in 2000 at the Community Foundation for Monterey County, and have held an annual appeal to Weekly readers since. In 2009, despite the difficult economy we’re all in, we raised and contributed $543,000. We are proud to have the largest circulation newspaper in the county. There are 90,000 of us that look to the Weekly every Thursday. If each of us donated $10, we’d generate $900,000 to the nonprofit community; $100 each and we’d generate $9 million. You get the idea. Please join us, and help support the arts and the kids and community, etc. Be it $10, or $100 or even $1,000, click on the DONATE NOW button and choose the nonprofits you wish to support during this campaign. Thank you, for your readership, and your support of everything local.
