This last week has been pretty busy for your Elsie Firefighters. Monday, we assisted Banks Fire with a technical rescue at a motor vehicle accident on Timber Rd. Wednesday the Mor Nor Wolf Fire broke out in the early afternoon. And Friday we responded to a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) on Hwy 26. The moral of the story here is that in the fire service we give and receive help where we can. In the past week we have received help on two multi alarm incidents from Banks Fire District 13, Olney Walluski Fire-Rescue, Cannon Beach RFPD, Seaside Fire & Rescue, Gearhart Volunteer Fire Department, Lewis & Clark RFPD, Hamlet Volunteer Fire Department, Knappa Fire District, the Oregon Military Department, Mist-Birkenfeld RFPD and Life Flight Network. Sometimes it truly does take an army, and we appreciate all of our partner agencies for coming to help us this week on two very technical incidents!

It’s been brought to our attention there is concern regarding the recent update on WatchDuty. The acreage for the Wolf Creek Incident was updated this evening to 18.25 acres. This reflects an accurate mapping of the fire. This is not, fire spreading today. The fire remains in its footprint from last night once a hose line was placed around the entire fire. There is no additional threat to the area or community.

The work that the AIC’s do is invaluable when wildfires start in our area. We are so glad this program exists and it’s always a breathe of fresh air when their crew buggies arrive on scene!
