Each of these individuals brings unique skills, experience, and a commitment to serving our community. While their roles may be different, they share one common purpose: to make Seaside a safer, stronger, and more connected community.

🔔Cold Case Mystery Monday

Seaside’s oldest cold case…

47 years is far too long for a family to wait for answers.

On November 15, 1977, Larry Rush was found at a public park near Mingo Avenue in Seaside. Larry had suffered a violent attack and ultimately died from his injuries.

Nearly five decades have passed, but the questions surrounding Larry’s death remain.

Who attacked Larry?
Why was he there that day?
And most importantly… who knows what happened?

Larry was not just a name in a case file. By all accounts, he was deeply loved by his family and had many friends who cared about him. Somewhere in our community, there may still be someone who remembers something—a conversation, a person, a vehicle, a detail that seemed insignificant at the time.

Time does not erase a crime. And it should not erase the memory of the person who lost his life.

Someone knows something.

If you have information about the murder of Larry Rush, now is the time to come forward. Even the smallest detail could be the piece investigators need to finally bring answers to Larry’s loved ones.

You can help give Larry’s loved ones something they have waited nearly 50 years for: answers, accountability, and closure.

Sometimes, the most important thing we do is help someone make it through the next moment. ❤️

Yesterday, our officers responded to an extremely concerning situation involving a person who was experiencing a mental health crisis and had their child with them.

The person had made previous statements about driving a vehicle off a cliff and warned they would attempt to evade police if officers tried to stop her.

Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, officers immediately focused on locating the person while keeping everyone involved safe. Officer Vazquez was able to establish communication with the person by phone, working patiently to maintain that connection.

When the person was located, officers continued to approach the situation with compassion and patience. The person surrendered the child to officers but then attempted to flee, running toward the highway.

Officer Greenwood was ultimately able to establish a connection with the person and safely encourage them to get into an ambulance and accept professional help.

Perhaps one of the most human-like moments is when Officer Palma met with the child at the police department, logged into his personal YouTube account, and let the child watch a Spider-Man movie to keep their mind off of all of the trauma they had just endured. ❤️‍🩹

This is what compassionate policing looks like.

Not every call is about an arrest. Sometimes it’s about slowing things down, listening, building trust, and doing everything possible to protect someone during their darkest moment.

We are incredibly proud of the officers and partner agencies who worked together to bring this situation to a safe conclusion.

Building Bridges Through Respect 🤝

Seaside PD does things a little differently. We believe public safety is strongest when it starts with a human approach, open communication, and mutual respect.

Recently, Chief Borges took a chance and knocked on the door of an Airbnb where the Daily Driven Exotics crew was staying. With all those incredible cars parked out front, it wasn’t exactly hard to figure out where they were! 😂

Chief’s goal was simple: have a conversation about some of the safety concerns we experienced during last year’s Car Week and, more importantly, find a way to work together toward a better year for everyone.

Not knowing what their reaction would be, Chief was pleasantly surprised. The DDE team welcomed him in, invited him to film the conversation, and even took us up on our offer for a ride-along with Seaside PD.

That kind of openness and willingness to listen is exactly what we mean when we talk about building bridges instead of walls.

Daily Driven Exotics is highly respected in the exotic car community, and we genuinely appreciate them taking the time to hear our perspective while also sharing theirs. Their insight into the enthusiast community helps us better understand each other and work toward a middle ground built on safety, fairness, respect, and a successful Car Week for everyone.

We may not always see everything the same way—and that’s okay. What matters is that we’re willing to have the conversation.
