Let me get this straight; so I’m clear. You can stand in a long line to get in a club. You can stand in a long line to get in a concert. You can stand in a long line to purchase new athletic shoes. But you don’t have time to stand in line to vote for your future? 🤔

Ok 🤷🏾‍♂️

It is very rewarding to have committed and dedicated partners who unselfishly give of themselves to support the people in the community. Thankfully, I have been blessed by the cordial relationship with the Honorable Kent A. Roberson and the Honorable Wala Blegay who is working with us in support of the Free Health Screening at North Forestville Community Center. This is a testament of true leadership. Let’s all do our part to help someone today and everyday.

CORRECTION ALERT: The first article incorrectly identifies Councilmember Wala Blegay as representative from Council District 5. She actually represents District 6. We apologize for that error.

Thanks to the honorable Councilmember Wala Blegay, Prince George’s County Council District 5, HENM received a second grant from the Special Appropriations Funds.

Today, Wes Moore, the Governor of the state of Maryland spoke at the AI and Digital Modernization Announcement. It was the first big announcement of 2024 focusing his administration’s efforts about how we work together to modernize the state government. He said, “I know “AI” and “cyber” sound scary, but the reality is that this technology is already affecting our lives. So do we wait for it to evolve even more and find ourselves flat-footed against the challenges of tomorrow? Or do we take action to ensure we lead in this moment?

I couldn’t agree more. In 2012, I began on a journey to learn about Smart Cities and its benefits to government but more importantly how it would create a citizen centric culture of governance. In 2016, we began to realize my vision turning the city into the World’s First Authentic Small Smart City. Our team along with the City Council at that time worked diligently meeting, planning, strategizing and executing bringing about intrinsic change and innovation.

We had tremendous partners including multinationals, national and regional leaders making foot prints in the sands of time. We were leaders developing the first shared services hub that would have allowed other municipal governments of like sizes to make the digital transformation necessary to not be left behind.

Unfortunately, forces did not allow that work to continue. However, it is my hope that the Maryland General Assembly will continue to work with our Governor to make Maryland the leading innovative state in the Union. We cannot sit idly by while the world is advancing. We cannot be spectators but engaging participants in digital transformation. We cannot be intimidated by progress but embrace it and benefit from it. It’s still our time let’s seize the moment before the moment seizes us.

Today, I had the pleasure of hosting Ms. Donna Cooper, President of PEPCO. She was a great delight to have visit and discuss Seat Pleasant’s digital transformation into A Smart City. The city looks forward to the partnership that is forming as we develop ways to deliver smart reliable energy services to the residents and citizens of Seat Pleasant: A Smart City of Excellence.

Usually, I don’t repost stories for various reasons. However, this story has broken my spirit this evening and now I’m going to sleep. This is beyond heartbreaking. Mankind’s inhumanity. We are sinking to new levels of low. Love seems to continue to escape many. In 2019 we must do better. In Seat Pleasant: A Smart City of Excellence our team works every day to ensure this does not happen to the people whom we serve. It’s not easy. So many people are in need but we are resolved to work against inhumanity.
