Have you experienced “medical fatigue” before? It’s more common than we think and a mindset we might not even know we have.

In today’s brand new BariNation Podcast episode, Jason and Natalie sat down for a catch up because life has been lifing and both are in a season of struggle.

But in this conversation, you will see and hear how they deployed “Pause and Pivot” masterfully to help them figure out where they are and where the want to go.

We know. Your inbox is a disaster zone. Seventeen unread emails from a store you bought something from one time in 2019. A newsletter you don't remember signing up for. A "quick follow-up" from someone you've never met.

And then there's ours.

Every Thursday, BariNation drops a fresh episode or a nugget of obesity wisdom into your inbox before you've had your second cup of coffee. Newest research broken down into "digestible bites", podcast links, episode resources, guest information, and everything we talked about, organized and ready for you, so you don't have to go hunting for it.

No fluff. No spam. No "just checking in!" from someone who is absolutely not just checking in.

Just the good stuff, straight to you, every single week. And we never share your info. Ever.

This week, we're talking about something on the BariNation Podcast that stopped us cold in over 300 episodes.

Dr. Charles Thompson, a bariatric surgeon in Brooklyn and Queens, said something about the people in your life who told you that you didn't need to do anything about your weight because you were beautiful. And it is going to change how you see that moment forever.

That episode, and everything that goes with it, is sitting in inboxes right now.

Want in? Drop your email at the link below. Thursday delivery. Zero nonsense. One hundred percent worth it.

Has someone who loves you ever said, "You don't need surgery, you're perfect the way you are"?

If you've been in the BariNation community for more than five minutes, you've probably heard that story. Or lived it.

In this clip, bariatric surgeon Dr. Charles Thompson says something we've literally never heard in over 300 conversations on this show. He says your friends and family aren't trying to prevent you from getting healthy. They're trying to prevent you from feeling bad about having a disease. And those are two very different things.

He also says he congratulates every single patient who walks into his office for the first time, because getting there means they pushed through that unintentional pressure and did it anyway.

That hit different.

If you've ever felt guilty for wanting treatment, or unsupported by the people closest to you, this one's for you. And if you know someone sitting on the fence right now, share this with them. This might be the thing that helps them take the next step.

Full episode on the BariNation Podcast, where you can watch on YouTube and listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Amazon.

Tell us in the comments: what did your friends and family say when you told them you were considering bariatric surgery or obesity treatment?

Packing our bags and our PURPOSE 🧳✨

San Antonio, we're coming for you.
The BariNation Foundation is headed to the ASMBS Annual Meeting, and we have FEELINGS about it.

Here's what this conference means for our community:

đź’ˇ It's where the science happens. The latest research on bariatric surgery, metabolic health, and long-term outcomes gets presented here first. We're bringing the highlights back to you.

🗣️ It's where we get to speak. Having an ASMBS-affiliated nonprofit in that room means your experiences, your questions, and your needs are part of the conversation, not an afterthought.

❤️ It's where care gets better. ASMBS exists to push the boundaries of scientific knowledge and elevate the standard of care for people impacted by obesity. When we show up alongside them, we push for the human side of that equation. American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery

Whether you're one year out, seven years out, or still in the "am I really doing this?" stage, this conference is happening FOR you. And we'll be there representing.

Follow along for live updates from San Antonio 🤠

Was this you? Did you underestimate the risks of living with untreated obesity and overestimate the risks of having surgery?

In our recent discussion with Dr Nini Peterson she breaks down how this under/over estimation can keep people stuck when it comes to onboarding really effective treatment and care.

Where do you fall on this over/under?

Are you still thinking about treatment? What’s holding you back?

And if you have onboarded treatment, how long did it take you? Were you underestimating how damaging not treating obesity can be?

Yeah…the obesity treatment of ”eat less, move more” has been around for a long time. Like 3000 years. 🤯

No wonder it’s so hard to break away from this now debunked treatment pathway!

How many times has a doctor “prescribed” “eat less and move more” for you?

But we have good news! There are so many providers who have moved past that and focus on holistic treatment approaches. They are out there, and this episodes helps you find them.

In this week’s amazing episode with Dr. Nini Peterson, incoming Integrated Health President of ASMBS, she walks us through this history of obesity and its treatments.

Spoiler alert- obesity has been a human condition for a L O N G time.

You got this and we got you.
