Protect our precious beaches, like Golden Gardens, and skip the holiday tradition of burning trees in our parks.

Why?

🔥 Dry trees burn fast and dangerously, thus creating a fire hazard.
🌊 It harms the environment and can leave behind ash and other materials.
🚫 Burning trees is simply not allowed in our public spaces.

This New Year’s season, keep our beaches clean and safe, and choose a more environmentally friendly ways to dispose of your tree. Here are some suggestions:

♻️ Break them down in a compost bin.
🚛 Set them out with your regular yard-waste bins for collection.
🎄 Use a local tree-recycling programs. Often there are free disposal options nearby!

Through March 15, Seattle Public Utilities offers a limited number of sandbags to homes or business owners in flood-prone areas.

If you have experienced or nearly experienced flooding in the past, consider using sandbags. Sandbags create a temporary flood barrier.

FREE filled sandbags (up to 25 per home or business) are available in your neighborhood while supplies last. Below are the Seattle Parks and Recreation locations where you can pick up free sandbags.

-South Park Community Center, 731 S Sullivant St.
(note: the sandbags are located on the south side of the field at the community center, and are staged at the dead end on Sullivan St.)
-Southwest Pool, Seattle Parks and Recreation: 2801 SW Thistle St.
-Madison Pool, Seattle Parks and Recreation: 13401 Meridian N
-Meadowbrook Community Center 10517 35th Ave. NE
