Yes on Proposition 1

Yes on Proposition 1 King County faces a budget crisis which threatens our most basic government programs. Protect our families and neighborhoods. Vote Yes on Prop 1.

Prop 1 protects critical safety services including police, prosecutors, victim advocates and the courts.

Thank you to all of our Prop 1 supporters in this election season! We fought valiantly on the behalf of critical services, but in the end of the day we were not able to convince voters to expend resources in this difficult economic environment. Thank you for your countless hours of support and dedication to justice in King County!

Phenomenal news - King County has secured an agreement with Metro transit workers that waives COLAs for 2011. Now over 90% of county employees have joined efforts to save costs and balance the county's budget by giving up pay increases. This agreement is further evidence of a combined effort to make a difference in this difficult budget environment for all the citizens of our county. Now let's finish our work and pass Prop 1!

"But elected criminal-justice officials and a majority of Metropolitan King County Council members note that Constantine has made progress in bringing down labor costs. Still, they say, the sales tax must be raised because existing tax sources haven't kept up with rising costs — a growing gap that has finally brought the county's ability to provide services to the breaking point."

"Right now, in King County, in order to keep the government and nonprofit groups working, and to create public safety, we must come together and pass King County Proposition 1 on November 2nd."

Wouldn’t it be nice if we didn’t have to pay taxes? And wouldn’t it be nice if everyone from now on treated each other with mutual respect and care? And if no one ever physically abused, coerced, or otherwise attempted to force their will on another person?
