This day commemorates the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment - women’s constitutional right to vote. It’s over one hundred years later, and we are still in the continual fight for equality: in education, the workplace, access, everywhere.

Bella Abzug, the former Congresswoman from the 70s, who championed for Women’s Equality Day said it best:

“Women's struggle for equality worldwide is about more than equality between men and women. Our struggle is about reversing the trends of social, economic, political, and ecological crisis - a global nervous breakdown! Our struggle is about creating sustainable lives and attainable dreams.”

Sounds to us like Jubilee’s mission is perfectly suited for working towards creating sustainable lives and attainable dreams.

Do you know about our FREE clothing boutique?

Jubilee’s free boutique is a vital resource for ANY woman with low income in our area. Women can make appointments to "shop" for clothing and accessories with dignity and hope for their future.

This fall, our Luxe Sale fundraiser benefits this very shop, to help make a difference for the women in our community inside and outside of our residential program. Free tickets for the event are available now - see the link in the comments below for more info!

Our Jubilee gardening club has been busy this summer!

I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite overcanopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet muskroses, and with eglantine.

The incomparable Bread and Roses Theater Company came out once again to give a lively and wonderful performance for Jubilee. In case you can't tell, this was a Midsummer's Night Dream, and it certainly was! Plus, a little less-Shakespearian fun to follow!

The Point in Time (PIT) count is the most comprehensive look at unsheltered homelessness in King County. Recently they released their numbers for 2026. Over the past two years, the number of people experiencing homelessness has grown 9%. Since 2022, there’s been an increase of 35%!

All the while, shelter capacity and housing resources have remained relatively stagnant.

We at Jubilee provide housing and programming for a small percentage of women, many of whom would otherwise be considered part of this population. We continue to strengthen and expand our programs, and hope to see a county-wide effort to fast-track housing initiatives and resources.
