Across Washington, thousands of people have swiftly stepped up to care for the basic necessities of those displaced by the fires: housing, clothing, food, mental health supports, and more.

As time goes on and additional needs become apparent, the arts community will still be here to help. As artists, we know that arts supplies are more than just objects for entertainment. They enable expression, healing, the joy of being creative, and they are important components of a meaningful school day.

Thanks to community volunteers and statewide donors, we anticipate being able to support replacement requests across Eastern and Central Washington, east of the Cascades.

In collaboration with Indigenous Chic and Washington State Indigenous Education Association, ArtsEd Washington is excited to announce our 2026 coloring book titled "Color for the Arts: Indigenous Voices of Washington"!

This book aims to create a chorus of voices celebrating the diversity of Indigenous creativity across geography and generations, while amplifying its representation in Washington schools!
*
We encourage both emerging artists and experienced artists to contribute original artwork that reflects Indigenous values, teachings, nature, traditions, and contemporary Native life.

💛 In the recent fires, many students and teachers have lost musical instruments, dance shoes, paint palettes, weaving tools, and other creative essentials. At the same time, we’re hearing from many people who want to help.

🎨 So we've assembled an Eastern Washington Arts Recovery Project webpage with simple forms to help with:
-Donating arts supplies or funds
-Requesting replacement arts materials for students and educators

📍 We’re currently focusing on Eastern Washington, with Shadle Park High School (north Spokane) as the dedicated drop‑off and pick‑up point. We’re also in conversation with educators in central Washington to explore additional pick‑up locations as needs emerge.

If you are a student or teacher who lost your beloved arts materials, we hope you’ll let this community help restore some of them for you.
