We’re hiring! The City of Seattle IT GIS team is looking for two motivated GIS Accessibility Interns to help make our city’s digital maps and apps inclusive for everyone.

This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of mapping technology and digital accessibility. You will help assess, remediate, and improve over 200 public-facing GIS applications to meet ADA and WCAG standards.

Position Details:
Role: Part-time Internship (2 openings)
Who can apply: Undergraduate or Graduate students
Duration: Up to 18 months or 3 months post-graduation

It happened to our Chief Privacy Officer —and she's in the business of data security.

One day, she was sipping tea, feeling like a responsible adult. The next, she discovered a fraudulent bank account in her name, complete with $5,000 in overdrafts. Yep, identity theft. It’s invasive, stressful, and unfortunately, all too common.

In her blog, she shares her story and the steps she took to fight back, including:
✅ Freezing her credit
✅ Filing a report with the FBI
✅ Monitoring accounts daily
✅ Changing passwords (yes, even the old ones)
