Uplift Northwest (formerly Millionair Club Charity) is a Seattle nonprofit providing jobs & job-readiness services to people experiencing poverty & homelessness. For nearly 100 years, Uplift Northwest has operated as a nonprofit temporary staffing organization with services geared to the needs of a person who is in poverty, or is homeless, and likely with little to no resources to become job-ready

. We believe a job is empowering and provides hope, strength, courage, confidence, purpose and an opportunity to stabilize one’s life. Income earned through these temporary jobs is the difference between starvation, eviction, and getting a person’s family off the streets. By removing barriers, we provide dignified work opportunities and support services to nearly 1,000 men and women annually experiencing poverty and homelessness – offering a job, a hot meal, a shower, laundry services, vision care, transportation passes, career coaching, medical, dental, cell phone, computer training and work certification, all in one location. In the past few years, hundreds of Uplift Northwest clients earned permanent job placements and housing referrals, and this translates to significant taxpayer dollars saved in public service expenses. You can hire workers for your next job, donate to the cause, and find out more by visiting www.upliftnw.org.

COREY’S NEXT CHAPTER: Proof that it's never too late to pivot, learn, and move forward📖

More than 25 years ago, Corey first worked with us when we were the Millionair Club Charity. When he returned to us (now Uplift Northwest) in 2026, he needed some help figuring out his next steps.

After decades as a union painter, the physical demands of the job had taken a toll. Corey shared:

"My knees can't climb a 40- or 60-foot ladder anymore. You have to pivot. My body's telling me I have to find something else."

Corey joined RISE Cohort 11 to refresh his skills and adapt to today's workplace. After completing the program, he was selected for an internship with Uplift Northwest's Maintenance Team, where he quickly made an impact and demonstrated the strong work ethic we all know him for today.

Within just a few weeks, that experience helped open the door to a promising new opportunity as a Maintenance Technician with Catholic Community Services.

Some people need support for years. Others need it for a season. Corey already had the experience and work ethic. He just needed a pathway to new opportunities. As he starts this new chapter, his focus is straightforward:

"Just maintaining steady employment. Keep working away."

We're proud to be part of Corey's journey and excited for what's ahead 💚

Hosting FIFA in Seattle brought excitement to our city AND created job opportunities for Uplift Northwest participants, including Willie!

These temporary positions provided competitive wages that helped workers gain valuable experience and income.

Willie, a graduate of Uplift Northwest's RISE program, worked with during the FIFA events, where his impact quickly became impossible to miss. Serving more than 3,000 restroom visitors daily, he consistently went above and beyond, earning praise from partners and helping their team focus on other critical park operations.

As Friends of Waterfront Park shared, “Willie is a perfect example of why our partnership with Uplift Northwest has been so fulfilling.”

We're incredibly proud to see him represent what’s possible through hard work, determination, and opportunity💚

Help create more success stories like Willie’s. We are looking for employers and community partners to hire Uplift Northwest workers. Reach out to Uplift Northwest staffing solutions at [email protected] or 206-957-3848.

We recognize Juneteenth as a reminder that freedom must include access to opportunity.

In an op-ed for the Seattle Medium's 2026 Juneteenth Commemorative Edition, our CEO Gina Hall shares a simple truth: A safer Seattle starts with economic opportunity — jobs, housing stability, and pathways forward.

At Uplift Northwest, we see this every day through the power of providing an alternative pathway for people.

🔗 Read the full piece: https://seattlemedium.com/uplift-northwest-seattle-stability/

Do the Work:

11 cohorts strong and still RISE-ing!↗️

On Friday, we celebrated the graduation of the 11th cohort of Uplift Northwest’s RISE Program.

In just four weeks, these graduates built the skills, confidence, and momentum to take their next step toward lasting employment and stability through RISE.

The celebration also marked a special moment for our new Chief Mission Officer, Degale Cooper, as she joined her first RISE graduation (with many more to come)!

“What an exciting day for RISE graduates! This cohort put their best selves forward to achieve success. Way to go, RISE Cohort 11!” - Degale

👏 To our graduates: your hard work inspires us, and we can’t wait to see what’s next.

👏 To Degale: welcome! We’re excited for your leadership in advancing this mission.

Attending a RISE graduation is one of the best ways to see our mission in action. The next will be on July 24, so sign up to witness this amazing moment here: https://forms.office.com/r/nDFt1xVfmf

OR, if you are interested in joining the next RISE cohort, applications are open now until June 17th at 3pm. Apply here today: https://tfaforms.com/5151579
