It’s that time of year again…
Slug time.

Banana slugs are iconic to the Pacific Northwest, and for good reason. They’re huge and plentiful. They’re the second largest slug in the world, reaching up to 10 inches long! They are known for their yellow appearance, but they also come in brown, green, yellow with black spots, and even white.

Watch your step! Slugs are on the move this time of year as moist environments allow for easier and less dehydrating travel. They’re also looking for love. ❤️

If you’re out hiking and enjoying the trails, you may see some on the ground or nearby vegetation. Keep your eyes peeled and your hands to yourself! There are oils, salts, and lotions on our hands that can hurt slugs.

It's simple: Healthy salmon runs will ensure that Southern Resident orcas have enough to eat.
Let's come together to restore our rivers, our salmon runs and the ecosystem that orcas need to thrive.

Let's not forget.

A rule change is about to undo decades of conservation progress.
It's detailed in this version of The Daily.
It's worth a listen.

A new interpretation of the law would mean that only the intentional killing of animals, not collateral harm, would be illegal.
