Near death’s door, a warm embrace,
Ghostly friends in softest grace.
Not here, not gone—forever near,
They lift our hearts, dissolve our fear.

Did you know Seattle IANDS was the first-ever support group for people with near-death experiences?

Founded in 1982 by Kimberly Clark Sharp and Betty Preston, it holds a special place in the history of the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS). This pioneering group offered a safe space for those who had experienced near-death or spiritually transformative experiences (NDEs/STE) to share without fear of isolation or misunderstanding.

Seattle IANDS helped raise awareness and inspired similar groups across the U.S. and beyond, breaking the stigma around NDEs and encouraging more open conversations about life, death, and what may lie beyond.
