The U.S. luxury housing market is increasingly moving in two directions. The national threshold for a luxury home fell 4 percent year over year to $1.2 million in August, its 29th consecutive month of declines, while some of the country’s most expensive markets continue to get pricier. Los Angeles now has the nation’s highest luxury entry point at nearly $3.9 million, while Naples saw its threshold rise 9.4 percent from a year earlier. The divide suggests that even as the high-end market cools nationally, concentrations of tech and finance wealth are helping insulate select cities from the broader slowdown.
