The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m.EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Welcome to the Pack! 🐺

Sergeant Major Gilberto Castilloguzman, outgoing sergeant major of Recruiting Station Seattle, relieved his post to Sergeant Major Sergio Zaratecortina.

The relief and appointment of sergeants major is an important and symbolic event for Marine Corps units during which the sword of office officially changes hands.

Hometown Highlight: Promotion Time! 🇺🇸

Congratulations to Cpl. Jonas G. Baldwin, a proud Washington native, on his recent promotion while deployed to the Philippines in support of Exercise KAMANDAG 9.

Baldwin, a small unmanned aircraft systems operator with 3d Littoral Combat Team, 3d Marine Littoral Regiment, was promoted during a Maritime Key Terrain Security Operation alongside our Philippine Marine allies. His hard work and dedication continue to reflect the highest standards of the Marine Corps and make his home state proud.

HOMETOWN HIGHLIGHT: Officer Edition 🦅🌎⚓️

Meet 1st Lt. Caleb Stites, a Washington native and assistant operations officer with 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division. Recently, 1st Lt. Stites helped teach a Martial Arts Instructor Course at MAGTF Training Command/Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center at 29 Palms.

This challenging course strengthens Marines’ warfighting, leadership, and decision-making skills and 1st Lt. Stites led from the front!

The swear in was conducted by U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Michelle Smith, the commanding general of 7th Infantry Division on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA.
