These six local CG Auxiliary members were a large proportion of the uniformed representatives at SeaTac last night to welcome home and es**rt 75 veterans from their Honor Flight weekend in Washington DC. Congrats to the team at Puget Sound Honor Flight for another successful trip. There's another flight in mid October and that will be it until spring 2027. If you are a uniformed member of any armed service or guard unit, please consider coming to help next time!

Today is the 50th anniversary of one of our local Auxiliary units, Flotilla 130-02-05, serving Renton and South King County. The flotilla has been very strong in a number of mission areas over the years including public education and outreach to kids - promoting safer boating. Flotilla members take pride in strongly supporting Puget Sound Honor Flight send offs and welcome back activities at SeaTac Airport and marching in the Veterans Day parade in Auburn annually. Some of the members are involved in supporting the active duty Coast Guard on local waters during major events like the recent World Cup matches in Seattle. Interested in joining a local flotilla and getting involved in the Auxiliary? We'd love to hear from you. Visit https://join.cgaux.org/

Bravo Zulu to the members and retirees of the Renton flotilla. Wishing you 50 more years of contributions to the community!

Our hardworking team of Auxiliary members from the Greater Seattle area were out this weekend talking to families and kids about the importance of wearing life jackets and making sure to be prepared while enjoying our local waters. The photos below show our team of Auxiliarists who staffed a booth at the Shoreline Fire Department's annual pancake breakfast and safety day on June 13th in Kenmore, accompanied by our robotic spokesboat, "Coastie." They talked to hundreds of kids and their families and gave out boat loads of boating safety related kids' activity books and stickers. Their next event will be in Lake Forest Park on July 11th.

Today's the final day of . Today's tip is to always pay attention to your surroundings when you are out on the water. There should be a "lookout" at all times aboard your vessel. If the skipper is busy doing a task, assign the lookout role to someone else and make sure they know to speak up if anything needs attention! Please have a safe weekend out on those gorgeous waters in our beautiful Pacific Northwest!

Today's tip: prepare for the unexpected. No matter where you’re boating in the Northwest, you need to have emergency equipment aboard to signal for help and take action in an emergency.
Did you know: our Coast Guard Auxiliary volunteers can come to your boat at your convenience to do a courtesy vessel safety check. These trained members of your community will help you check your safety equipment and advise you on how you can “up your safety game” for the coming boating season. Fill out a simple form to request a vessel safety check at this website: https://wow.uscgaux.info/i_want_a_vsc/index.php
