Food is Medicine.

This week, Food Lifeline welcomed Erin Dugan and Janie Dulaney from the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, alongside community leaders and partners from across Washington, for a Food Is Medicine Forum at the Hunger Solution Center.

Facilitated by Max Brown of Desimone Consulting Group, the discussion focused on strengthening connections between nutrition and health, supporting proven programs, and identifying sustainable pathways to grow Food Is Medicine initiatives. Participants shared insights on what's working, where improvements are needed, and how these efforts can be sustained through reliable funding.

Attendees also toured Lifelong's medically tailored meals program to see this work in action and learn how nutritious meals are improving lives every day.

We're inspired by the collaboration and innovation happening across Washington and look forward to continuing the conversation and advancing Food Is Medicine initiatives statewide.

This Hunger Action Month, as kids head back to class, we are bringing attention to the importance of school meals. Studies from states that fully fund school meals for all show that free school meals significantly reduce food insecurity and play a critical role in student health, well-being, and academic success.

We're excited that Seattle Public Schools voted to fully fund school meals starting this fall, and we'll continue to advocate for free school meals across Washington so all students can learn, grow, and thrive.

Football season is officially here! 🏈

To celebrate, Food Lifeline is taking on The Greater Boston Food Bank in the Kickoff to End Hunger Challenge, raising funds to help neighbors facing hunger through September 9 before our cities face off on the field.

To make things a little more interesting, our CEO Stephen Davis, MBA has issued a wager: the food bank that raises less will see its CEO sporting the other city's football jersey. 👕

Let's rally together, support our neighbors, and show Boston what we're made of. We've won before, and we're ready to defend our title.

At Food Lifeline, we believe caring for our neighbors means looking out for their future, too. Planning for what comes next is one of the most meaningful ways to support the people and causes you care about most.

This August, in recognition of Make-A-Will Month, we invite you to take an important step for your loved ones and your community. Creating a will helps ensure your wishes are honored while providing peace of mind for those you care about. It also offers an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy through a planned gift that helps nourish our neighbors for years to come.

Through our trusted partner, Freewill, you can create your free legal will in as little as 20 minutes and make a meaningful impact that lasts beyond your lifetime.
