On June 1, the Shoreline City Council adopted Resolution No. 562. The resolution places Shoreline Proposition 1 on the November 3 general election ballot to create the Shoreline Metropolitan Park District (MPD). If approved by Shoreline voters, Proposition 1 would create the Shoreline MPD, which would enable the City to build and operate a pool facility with financing from Shoreline MPD property tax revenue.

City staff will provide several factual presentations over the coming weeks to answer questions.

Construction Update: The bridge span for the 148th Street Non-Motorized Bridge is coming together! Crews are currently assembling the bridge structure on the west side of I-5 near the 145th Street southbound off-ramp. We anticipate placing the bridge span on the piers overnight in late October or early November 2026.

This new connection will create a safer, more accessible route for people walking, biking, and rolling between neighborhoods on both sides of the freeway.

UPDATE: This closure has been postponed. We will provide an update if another closure is scheduled. We apologize for the confusion.

⚠️REMINDER: Upcoming weekend closures of the intersection of NE 185th Street and 1st Avenue NE ⚠️

NE 185th Street and 1st Avenue NE will both be fully closed at their intersection this weekend to complete wastewater pipe repair and replacement. The closure will be from 7:00 a.m. Saturday through 10:00 p.m. Sunday.

Please use alternate routes and plan for extra time to travel through the area. The recommended detour will be Meridian to N 175th Street on the west side of the closure and 5th Avenue NE to NE 175th Street on the east side of the closure.

As students head back to school, it’s a great time for families to review their emergency communication plans and make sure children know what to do during an unexpected situation.

Before the school year begins, consider taking a few simple steps to strengthen your family’s preparedness:

1. Backpack Communication Cards: Place an emergency contact card in your child’s backpack with key phone numbers, caregiver names, and designated meeting locations.

2. Family Communication Plan: Identify an out-of-state contact everyone can text or call if local phone lines are congested during an emergency: Create Your Family Emergency Communication Plan here:https://www.ready.gov/sites/default/files/2020-03/family-emergency-communication-planning-document.pdf

3. Basic Safety Skills: Teach children how to dial 911, including how to make the call from a locked cell phone.
