📣SEATTLE: we need everyone to join us to rally for a fair contract. Our working conditions are our students’ learning conditions and SPS is choosing to walk away from discussions.

Free posters available at New Freeway Hall this week only!

We're thinning down our collection of posters gained over the decades by giving you the chance to walk away with a piece of history for absolutely free. There are lots of beautiful prints by local artists touching on many topics, including immigrant rights, feminist causes, anti-war sentiments and much, much more. These would be perfect for educators or students looking to fill their walls with something inspiring or relevant to curriculum, or for anyone who appreciates art made before AI was a thing.

New Freeway Hall is open Monday through Friday from noon to 6pm. Don't miss out!

Members from FSP and Radical Women sat down for an interview with Rainieravenueradio.world yesterday- it was a great discussion! Meeting people where they're at and getting out our ideas and principles is a huge part of our grassroots organizing, and we're very grateful to the folks at Rainier Ave Radio for giving us a platform. Please note that the photos of Doreen and Emma are placeholders that were not updated ahead of this interview... you can see their real faces on camera shortly after the video begins. Check it out!

"What exactly is New Freeway Hall?" 🤔
It's a great question we hear a lot from people visiting our building for the first time! New Freeway Hall is many things: a political organizing center; a feminist bookstore; a Whistle Hub; a private rental facility; a food bank collection spot; and a meeting space for seasoned activists and people just getting started that want to make a difference. We have bathrooms, water, and fresh coffee for anyone in need. Our building has AC to protect people from oppressive heat. We're aligned with organizations and individuals committed to making a better world possible, and our doors are always open to discussion and collaboration with that goal in mind. We're open Monday through Friday from 12-6pm, and we often host events and study groups after hours to educate and engage the public.
A community-created memorial space exists outside of NFH at the moment as a single example of where we're focusing our efforts. Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Johan Sebastian Guerrero were shot and killed by ICE agents within a week of each other last month, and we marched alongside neighbors in Columbia City to call out this violence for the senseless murder that it is. Folks are invited to contribute to the memorial or stop by to find out how they can help in the fight against vicious, inhumane immigration policy. We must stand up for our rights and the rights of vulnerable people if we want a just and equitable world. Political hopelessness does not have to be par for the course... try revolutionary optimism today!

This past Monday, we participated in a community rally and vigil to remember and honor Joan Sebastian Durán Guerrero and Lorenzo Salgado Araujo who were both unarmed but still shot and killed by ICE agents. Since that time, another yet-unidentified person was killed in Florida after an encounter with immigration agents. No one is alone in confronting these reckless and racist tactics that are terrorizing citizens and noncitizens alike. We need to hold the killers accountable and put an end to immigration policy that depends on violence and fear.

On July 7, 2026, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was shot and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent. Today, we'll join a community rally and vigil demanding justice for the slain father.

The procession begins starting at 5:30pm from New Freeway Hall in Columbia City. If you need to make a sign, New Freeway Hall will be open and available to anyone who needs a place or materials to construct a meaningful message to include at this evening's vigil.

Utopian promises that artificial intelligence will keep Wall Street afloat are based on a wish and a prayer and will inevitably mean disaster for working people.
