Sharing with DBSC and WSDBC--

We’re excited to host the annual DBSC and WSDBC Summer Social!!
Date: Saturday, August 8, 2026

Time: 11am – 5pm, Lunch will be served at 12 noon

Location: Magnuson Park, Shelter 1

Cost: DB pay $30; Volunteer CN/SSPs can donate if they want to support us

How to pay? Two choices:

PayPal – go to www.wsdbc.org and click on Donate button. Please let Roger know you have paid on PP, email [email protected]

OR by check – pay to WSDBC; mail to 1620 18th Ave ste 100, Seattle, WA 98122.



Taco Bar Menu:

-Taco Ground Beef (GF)

-Mild Chile Shredded Chicken (GF)

-Jackfruit Taco ‘Meat’ (Vegan/GF) *must let Debra know how many people want this* (number is for catering company) [email protected]

-Refried Beans (Vegan/DF)

-Vegan Spanish Rice (everyone can eat)

-Cascade Garden Salad w/ balsamic vinaigrette on the side (includes romaine lettuce, red cabbage, carrots, beets, heart of palm, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers)

-Corn Tortillas (DF/GF/Vegan)

-Flour Tortillas

-Taco Bar Toppings include: pico de gallo, 2 different fresh salsas, shredded lettuce, and shredded cheese

-Tortilla chips



If you have lawn chairs, we recommend you bring it. There are only 8 picnic tables at the shelter.

DBSC & ODHH

Age and Dementia Friendly Community Sessions



Washington State is taking meaningful steps to become more Age- and Dementia-Friendly — and we need your help to ensure community voices are heard.

We are hosting two dates for individuals of the DeafBlind community on April 20 and April 27 with one-on-one opportunities to talk directly with us.

Input from the community will help inform programs and policies that better support older adults and people living with dementia across the state.

We want everyone to have a good quality of life as they grow older and to help older adults, including those living with memory loss, stay active and involved in their communities.

Together, we can make Washington a place where everyone can age with dignity, purpose, and connection.



You can register for one two-hour session on (schedule below):

Monday, April 20 from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

(8-10 AM, 10 AM-12 PM, 1-3 PM, 3-5 PM)

PTASL interpreter services are scheduled for all sessions.



Monday, April 27 from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

(8-10 AM, 10 AM-12 PM, 1-3 PM, 3-5 PM)

PAH! Braille Training is back!!!



DBSC are thrilled to announce that we received one year of funding from the Office of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ODHH) this year! This is wonderful news . Many thanks to ODHH for recognizing that the Deafblind community wish to improve their braille skills in order to communicate more effectively.



Contracted and Noncontracted braille will be provided. Numbers will be included in the lesson. The location for training sessions will be flexible. The class schedule is for 20 weeks of training.
