CCYJ's Early Childhood Court (ECC) program focuses on reducing trauma and improving how courts, child welfare, and child-serving organizations work together to support young children in, or at-risk of entering, the child welfare system.

The dedicated Community Coordinators who work with our ECCs facilitate collaborative meetings, support resource connections, and partner with child welfare and community agencies. Our work could not be done with them!

In response to the high number of young children in the child welfare system, in 2020, CCYJ launched the Early Childhood Court (ECC) program to expand the use of Safe Babies Courts in Washington State. Utilizing a therapeutic and trauma-informed approach, these courts focus on keeping together - or reunifying - families impacted by the child welfare dependency system.

This week, we will share more about the important work of ECCs, and the strides our team has made in the 6 years since launching the program.

Ten years ago, our partners made a commitment to the children and youth in Washington’s child welfare system to provide healthcare that’s coordinated, consistent, and built to ensure their unique needs are met.

is celebrating this milestone with the release of a new report looking back on a decade of this work which has resulted in impressive results: a 9% decrease in avoidable emergency room visits, a 7.9% increase in well-child visit rates, the launch of Foster Care Centers of Excellence in all six DCYF regions, and more. We’re proud to partner with to continue building a system where every child in Washington receives the high-quality, reliable care they need and deserve.

CCYJ was honored to receive the Community Partner Award at 's 10-Year Anniversary of Apple Health Core Connections Celebration!

CCYJ President & CEO Rachel Sottile was on hand to accept the award and share our gratitude to Coordinated Care for their partnership, including with Early Childhood Courts in Washington.

"Coordinated Care has worked side by side with us, family by family, to connect parents and children to medical providers, services, and support. They do not just talk about collaboration—they live it. This partnership shows what is possible when systems work with families with commitment, flexibility, and heart. We are deeply grateful for their leadership, and this recognition reflects the standard all systems should strive to meet. You are a warm hug in partnership form."

Thank you, Coordinated Care!
