Yesler Community Center

Yesler Community Center is located in Seattle's Central Area, in the heart of the Yesler Terrace housing neighborhood. We serve people from a multitude of world cultures, including a number of different East African communities. In the near future, potential customers will include residents of new apartments being developed nearby by Vulcan Properties. The community center also draws participants

from the First Hill neighborhood to the north, which includes Harborview Hospital, and downtown Seattle, located west and down the hill from the center. Built in 2004 to replace the old community center, the beautiful new building was certified as environmentally sustainable. The open space of the lobby features a display of photography by the center's youth. Other interior spaces include two multipurpose rooms with a commercial-grade kitchen, an arts and crafts room, other smaller rooms and a gym with a regulation-size basketball court. The variety and sizes of these rooms provide spaces for a wide array of programs, activities and special events, catering to the needs and desires of the community. The center hosts annual events such as Juneteenth and Mother's Day Brunch while offering regular programs for toddlers (indoor gym), youth (basketball, badminton, volleyball and other sports), adults (dance, martial arts) and seniors (pickleball). There's something for everyone!
