Handing out the prizes! Money, in dollar denominations… we heard a few people ended their race early at Fay Bainbridge Park, one of our Cascadia Marine Trail sites. Hopefully everyone is OK. Ties were given out to each racer, and if they stopped at any point, a certain length was cut off the tie 🙂

Another final arrival…

Here at the Northwest Maritime Center… All of the racers have come in but one! He was paddling against a 3 kn current in the cut between Indian Island and the mainland earlier today.

The Cascadia Marine Trail site in La Conner is wonderful although one does have to watch for the currents!

Orcas Can’t Vote, But You Can.

Did you know June is Orca Action Month? We’ll be kicking off Orca Month with our annual Orca Fest on May 31st at KEXP Gathering Space from 11AM - 2PM

Orca Action Month, originally started by Orca Network, brings together researchers, advocates, and orca lovers to raise awareness and take action to protect these incredible animals. In partnership with the Orca Salmon Alliance, it’s grown into a movement to help recover Southern Resident orcas.

This year’s theme, Orcas Can't Vote But You Can, reminds us that the future of these marine species relies on our collective action. When we protect orcas, we protect the future for all of us. 💙

Visit OrcaMonth.com to view other upcoming events, educational resources, and ways to take meaningful action. Together, we can be the catalyst for change.

In the last couple of years our signage at Bowman Bay has either gone missing or disappeared. Here is how it used to look with the Carsonite post at the beach to mark the Cascadia Marine Trail site. We would love to have some paddlers use the site and send us reports. It's one of the best! Paddle in only 🙂
