From an intimate 40-acre park setting to a majestic wedding space, our gorgeous Silver LEED Certified facility creates a memorable ambiance for your celebration. Our space is rich wit

h modern architecture, natural and modern textiles with everything from wood planked walls, fire hose walls, cement slab flooring, roll up garage doors, and earthy decor. This chic and refined facility is flexible and able to accommodate the unique requirements for your special event. BCLS was built in 2012 through an innovative public/private partnership between King County and Technology Access Foundation (TAF), a nonprofit with a mission to equip students of color for success in college and life through the power of an interdisciplinary STEM education and supportive relationships. King County provided the land, donated funding towards the project, and the opportunity for BCLS to be built in the Dick Thurnau Memorial Park. All proceeds earned through BCLS rentals go directly towards TAF operations to support students in STEM education. Call us today to schedule a tour and reserve your space! We’re proud to offer a space that helps youth build STEM skills while growing confidence, community, and a sense of agency in their future. Here’s what Geeking Out Kids of Color's program manager shared about their time in the space:

Geeking Out Kids of Color has deeply valued our time programming in the BCLS space. The environment is welcoming, accessible, and thoughtfully designed, allowing young people to feel both grounded and inspired. Being surrounded by nature while engaging in technology learning creates a unique balance that helps youth slow down, reflect, and fully engage in creative problem-solving.

What makes this space especially meaningful is how it supports youth voice and identity development. Our students, primarily Black, Brown, immigrant, and refugee youth benefit from environments where they feel safe to explore who they are while building technical skills and imagining their futures. In this setting, we’ve seen youth collaborate more openly, share ideas confidently, and take ownership of their learning.

Students often express appreciation for having a space that feels different from traditional classrooms - one where they can build community, experiment with technology, and see themselves as innovators and leaders. The combination of natural surroundings and flexible learning space reinforces the idea that their growth, well-being, and creativity matter.

We’re grateful to partner with BCLS in creating opportunities where young people can not only learn STEM skills, but also develop confidence, belonging, and a sense of agency in shaping their paths forward.
