We're so grateful for the friends of Phone Booth Books that recognized a need in our community and decided to do something about it! During the COVID-19 crisis, Phone Booth Books is pivoting from a Little Free Library to a Little Free Pantry. Thank you to for continuing to host us, Cloud City owner for the amazing idea, and for being the first to roll up their sleeves and help make this happen!

Help! Don't let Phone Booth Books become a Lonely Phone Booth.

Those of you who know the Phone Booth Books team personally have likely heard that we're moving soon. Our friends have all had the same three questions - When? Where? and What's happening to Phone Booth Books.

Our community in the Maple Leaf, Seattle neighborhood have been a huge part of what made Phone Booth Books special and successful and we think the Booth should stay right here in the neighborhood.

We've found a location (to be announced soon) in the heart of Maple Leaf but are hoping for a few families or individuals in the neighborhood to help care for Phone Booth Books and keep it going strong.

If you're interested in joining the small but mighty team of Phone Booth Books stewards, let us know by commenting on this post. We'll be starting a small Facebook Group to facilitate coordination among the folks want to help with periodic restocking, keeping the collection fresh, and making sure the shelves stay orderly.

Thanks for supporting Phone Booth Books!

It's finally here - the Phone Booth Books ! We'll be keeping the time-honored American tradition of "Cramming People Into a Thing" alive (http://mentalfloss.com/article/30270/cramming-people-thing-photo-history).

To play along and perhaps even win a fabulous prize, grab that selfie stick or a have a passer by snap a picture of your family in the Booth. Post your photo to our page by tagging "" or post your picture in the comments below.

For our far flung fans that can't make it to the Booth in person, it's time to get creative. (Everybody piled in a recliner sharing a favorite book, perhaps? You're limited only by your imagination and the laws of physics.)

The winner will be determined by totally subjective (but not arbitrary) criteria. We like cute kids, good books, humor, and most of all - FUN! For bonus points, make sure to comment on your photo and/or tag participants.

Ready. Set. GO!

Phone Booth Cramming was a late-1950s fad with a simple premise: cram a phone booth full of dudes (and/or ladies) and take a picture before the people on the bottom suffocate. As you can imagine, this pastime was most popular among college students, and led to international rivalries. Yes, kids, thi...

The Phone Booth Books Facebook Community crossed the 100 follower mark this week. To celebrate, we thought we’d profile the fellow that put us over the top Thomas Roselyn.

Tom (pictured below with his sweetie Jenny) has books in his blood, having worked as a bookseller (and sound tech) at Third Place Books Lake Forest Park. Third Place ranks among Tom's favorite bookstores, along with Bothell's The Neverending Bookshop – a great little place opened by one of Tom’s coworkers from Third Place.

PBB: Tell us a little about yourself.
TR: I studied to be a librarian, but split my time now between writing about transportation goings-on for the UW, lazily working on music and sipping coffee with my girlfriend in Portland.

PBB: Do you have a favorite reading spot?
TR: Really any noisy coffee shop or quiet library will do. The UW campus offers the best of both.

PBB: What are you reading now?
TR: Trying to get through Leaves of Grass, but poetry is honestly a bit of a slog for me. Every word is demanding. I might read one of the Wildwood novels next, for a change.

PBB: What’s your favorite book?
TR; I try to re-read Walden every year. It was one of the first books that really hit me hard, and still challenges me to live more deliberately.

Thank you, Tom, for being part of the Phone Booth Books community and for celebrating with us! Happy reading!
