This First Thursday Artwalk step into a portal of protection and ask the buwaya (crocodiles) to guide you and your descendants in Heidi Grace Acuna's "Buwaya Baby." Acuna makes art that finds the beauty in the multiplicities of identity, culture, gender, and home. Her work is rooted in connecting back to the ancestral homeland and cultural beliefs of the Philippines through endemic creatures and reclaiming her lineage through time, migration, and spirituality.

We'll be celebrating the new exhibit with an opening reception on Sept. 3 from 5-8 PM. Plus, don't miss the last of our summer plaza programming with music by Joe Brazil Legacy Band and free zines with Common Area Maintenance!

Artists at the Center is a multi-year collaboration between OAC and Seattle Center, with support from Uptown Arts & Culture Coalition and the communities adjacent to Seattle Center campus. The project is made possible by a 10-year grant from Climate Pledge Arena and Seattle Kraken.

With over $2.3 million in funding for artists, organizations, and small businesses, we helped bring nearly 100 free arts and culture events across Seattle through World Cup and beyond. Stay tuned for our new series Beyond the Funding, where we’ll highlight our grantee stories and talk about the incredible events they put on this summer and why it matters to have free, accessible, arts and culture based programming for community in all corners of Seattle.
