Thank you so much to everyone who came out despite the brutal, brutal conditions in the rain and cold yesterday. Together we celebrated international women’s day, demanding the following:
the publication of the Equal Rights Amendment into the Constitution,
the protection of reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy,
the defense of LGBTQ+ rights,
justice and protection for disproportionately affected communities, including Indigenous women, immigrant women, trans women, and women of color,
an end to inhumane immigration policies
the removal of ICE from our communities,
the protection of voting rights and civil rights,
and lastly, true economic and healthcare justice for all.
This work is not done until true equality for all is achieved - no matter who is in office next.
We also had a memorial for victims and survivors of femicide, domestic violence, sexual violence, police brutality, immigration based violence, and Missing & murdered indigenous women, among other issues.
This our program invited participants to share their stories, empowering us all to speak about what we have been through and know that we are not alone in the fight for a better justice system and society. It was especially touching to spend the day in community with all of our sisters/survivors. So we would like to extend a huge thank you to those who were brave enough to share their stories and stand along side us to demand change.
