On August 13, 2026, at approximately 7:55 a.m., the Sebago Fire Department responded to 33 Mill Pond Circle for a reported structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters located a fire in a two-bay attached garage. Fire crews quickly initiated suppression efforts and contained the fire, preventing it from spreading into the main residence. Because additional manpower and a water supply were needed, a second alarm was struck.

The homeowners were at home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported among the occupants or firefighters.

The fire appears to be accidental and electrical in nature and remains under investigation by the Maine State Fire Marshal's Office.

Mill Pond Circle Structure Fire

On August 13, 2026 at 0757 Sebago Fire & Rescue was dispatched for a Desk Box to 33 Mill Pond Circle for a report of smoke in a garage with an electrical issue. Automatic mutual aid from area towns was also sent per our standard mutual aid policy.

Engine 1 and Tank 1 were first to arrive, with Chief Strike on board. Crews found a two story colonial style house with a two car attached garage. The chief advised he had smoke showing and requested the "All hands" be struck. The "All Hands Working" designation automatically triggers a response from CMP, an additional ambulance and apparatus from area towns to cover Sebago's stations.

Crews stretched multiple hoselines and it was determined the fire had potentially advanced from the garage into the house, and Chief Strike requested a 2nd alarm for more manpower.

Crews were able to knock down the fire in the garage while simultaneously checking for extension and conducting ventilation of smoke from the building.

Crews kept the fire contained to the garage with extensive smoke damage to the house.

The State Fire Marshall's Office responded to the scene and is looking into a possible electrical issue as the cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported.

Crews returned to service by noon.

Attached is several photos and a screen shot from Cumberland County Regional Communication Center - Maine of the apparatus that was dispatched to assist.

As is typical in emergency services, manpower is difficult to find, especially for daytime fires. Today's fire required roughly 40 pieces of apparatus to be dispatched to the fire, or moved to cover stations left vacant as apparatus moved to the fire scene.

Our appreciation goes out to our mutual aid partners who assisted on scene and covering where needed, as well as the dispatchers working behind the scenes to keep track of all the apparatus while simultaneously dealing with other emergencies.

Thank you.
