🗑️🌊🐟We are thrilled to be one of the Park Champions for this year’s International Coastal Cleanup in Indian River County!

Mark your calendars to join us on Saturday, September 19th, from 9 am to 11 am at the Capt. Robert Hardee Main St. Boat Ramp in Sebastian, where we will collect and remove marine debris to help keep our coastlines clean for our local community and wildlife.

Then join us for some family-friendly fun at the After-Party at Walking Tree Brewery from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm to celebrate all of the impactful work that was done!

International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), led by Ocean Conservancy, is the world’s largest volunteer cleanup effort to protect the ocean from harmful pollutants. Since it began in 1986, more than 19 million volunteers have collectively removed a staggering 400 million pounds of debris from beaches, waterways, and coastlines around the globe!

Here in Indian River County, Coastal Connections, Inc. (CCinc) has been proudly hosting ICC since 2022, rallying 3,723 volunteers to remove 14,945 lb, or at least 137,498 individual pieces, of debris from our community!

We couldn’t be more excited to take part in this tremendously impactful event. We look forward to seeing you there!

All cleanup supplies will be provided, but we do recommend that you bring a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, bug protection, and your neighbors, friends, and family!

Don’t wait, register today to take part in this global effort to improve the health of our local environment and ocean! Registrations submitted by September 6th can claim a FREE t-shirt: scan the QR code or visit https://coastal-connections.salsalabs.org/icc2026irc/index.html

Celebrating Innovation & Excellence!👏

At the August 19 City Council meeting, the City of Sebastian proudly recognized Douglas “Doug” Turner with an Incentive Award for his exceptional innovation, craftsmanship, and dedication to finding creative solutions that save taxpayer dollars.

Doug redesigned and reconstructed 14 catch basin lids that would have cost the City more than $190,000 to replace. Instead, through his ingenuity and technical expertise, he developed an alternative repair and fabrication method that restored all 14 lids for approximately $11,000—saving the City an estimated $180,000!💰

Doug’s initiative, problem-solving skills, and commitment to responsible stewardship of public funds exemplify the very best of public service.

Thank you, Doug, for your outstanding work and dedication to the City of Sebastian! Your innovation and commitment to excellence make a tremendous difference.
