Western Sonoma County Historical Society We're a non-profit supporting the West County Museum and Luther Burbank Experiment Farm in Sebastopol At 7781 Bodega Ave., Sebastopol. Main St., Sebastopol.

The Western Sonoma County Historical Society (WSCHS) is a non-profit organization founded in 1974 and incorporated in 1978 to help preserve and maintain the unique heritage of the West County area. Luther Burbank's Gold Ridge Experiment Farm (Gold Ridge Farm or GRF) is an ongoing project of preservation and restoration. West County Museum (WCM), located in the old downtown train station, mounts t

The Society also presents annual preservation awards to those who have done an outstanding job of preserving or restoring original architecture or, in building new structures, have kept the flavor and heritage of rural Western Sonoma County. WSCHS holds 4 General Meetings during the year; none in December. Meetings usually feature programs of a timely or historical theme and include a social hour. Hello history lovers. The West County Museum’s next exhibit will focus on the WPA projects in west county. It was 90 years ago that many projects were completed or in the works. And we will include CCC camps in the area.

The exhibit will open in January. In the mean time we are asking you folks to look along the roadways and find, detail, and photograph any WPA stamps you may see.

The WPA stamp you see here is located at the Analy High School. It was recently saved from removal for a sidewalk improvement, thanks to your Historical Society.

Another opportunity to donate your gently or new Holiday items at The West Co Museum. This Saturday from 9 to noon at the back door of the Museum. 261 So. Main Street, Sebastopol.

Look for our Nutcracker out front. Further donation dates are July 11 and July 24. The “Holiday Store at the Depot” is December 4, 5, 6, 2026.

The Analy and El Molino High School newspapers are now available to view FOR FREE at newspapers.com. The West County Museum team captured every page image and submitted the collection. The Apple Blossom Parade starts at 10 a.m. tomorrow. It's a fun time for old and new lovers of Sebastopol. It is the biggest fund raiser for the Sebastopol Chamber of Commerce who has been supporting our community since early 1900s. Here is a fun article from 1909.
Then Sunday the West County Museum will open its newest exhibit all about the grocery stores in Sebastopol from the 1890's to present day. I bet there are many of you who worked at one of these stores or related to store owners. Come on down

The hot topic in Sebastopol revolves around a new grocery store. Stop in at the museum for a look at our grocery stores from the 1890s to present day. Opens April 26th and the following Saturday and Sundays from 11-2.
