Western Sonoma County Historical Society We're a non-profit supporting the West County Museum and Luther Burbank Experiment Farm in Sebastopol At 7781 Bodega Ave., Sebastopol. Main St., Sebastopol.

The Western Sonoma County Historical Society (WSCHS) is a non-profit organization founded in 1974 and incorporated in 1978 to help preserve and maintain the unique heritage of the West County area. Luther Burbank's Gold Ridge Experiment Farm (Gold Ridge Farm or GRF) is an ongoing project of preservation and restoration. West County Museum (WCM), located in the old downtown train station, mounts t

The Society also presents annual preservation awards to those who have done an outstanding job of preserving or restoring original architecture or, in building new structures, have kept the flavor and heritage of rural Western Sonoma County. WSCHS holds 4 General Meetings during the year; none in December. Meetings usually feature programs of a timely or historical theme and include a social hour. The Analy and El Molino High School newspapers are now available to view FOR FREE at newspapers.com. The West County Museum team captured every page image and submitted the collection. Thank you to all who loaned or donated their newspapers. There are missing papers, so if you have one contact the Museum so we can get them included. 707-829-6711

The Apple Blossom Parade starts at 10 a.m. tomorrow. It's a fun time for old and new lovers of Sebastopol. It is the biggest fund raiser for the Sebastopol Chamber of Commerce who has been supporting our community since early 1900s. Here is a fun article from 1909.
Then Sunday the West County Museum will open its newest exhibit all about the grocery stores in Sebastopol from the 1890's to present day. I bet there are many of you who worked at one of these stores or related to store owners. Come on down

Railroad historian and former Northwestern Pacific and Southern Pacific officer Fred Codoni will discuss the history of the railroad in Sonoma County, from the early horse-drawn streetcars – ‘horse car lines’ – to the formation of the Petaluma & Santa Rosa Railroad (P&SR) that went through Sebastopol.

The museum is closed this weekend due to illness. Sorry for the inconvience We hope to be back next weekend. We are a volunteer driven organization so when we don’t have docents we need to close. Please sign up to learn about being a docents so we keep our doors open to the public. Don’t miss the current exhibit! It’s a great display of our town history!!
