Things got a little wild today! This young injured sandhill crane found the perfect place to be in distress. Combine 1️⃣ registered wildlife rehabilitator- Ms.Dietz- + 1️⃣ enthusiastic Lake Placid Middle School Agricultural class 🟰 a successful rescue and live lesson about local protected species. Thank you to the volunteer from Peace River Wildlife Hospital who came to pick up our guest. Lake Placid Middle School is the place to be for learning, leading and succeeding.

🏗️🔨 BIG THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT LAKE PLACID HIGH SCHOOL! 🔨🏗️

Just as Open House gets underway at Lake Placid High School, there’s even more excitement to share! The Building Construction Technology program has received a major delivery of brand-new power tools, arriving alongside a full renovation of the construction lab and shop area! 🛠️⚡

When students step into the newly renovated program, they’ll have access to new equipment, modern tools, and an upgraded workshop environment designed to give them the hands-on experience they need to build real-world skills and prepare for successful careers in the construction industry.

Students will have opportunities to:

🔨 Train with modern, industry-relevant tools and equipment
🏠 Complete hands-on construction and building projects
📐 Develop skills in measuring, layout, planning, and problem-solving
🦺 Learn proper jobsite and equipment safety practices
🤝 Build teamwork, communication, responsibility, and work-readiness skills
👷 Gain experience that helps prepare them for careers, certifications, apprenticeships, and continued education in the skilled trades

And the best part? This project is fully funded through Florida’s CAP Grant!

This is what investing in CTE looks like—creating modern learning spaces, putting professional tools into students’ hands, and giving them opportunities to turn skills learned in the classroom into successful futures.

🩺🫀🧠📚 Lake Placid High School proudly hosted an Anatomage Table Training, bringing together Nursing and Anatomy & Physiology instructors from Glades County, Okeechobee County, Sebring High School, and Avon Park High School for a day of collaboration and professional learning.

The Anatomage Table is truly an incredible piece of technology that is transforming science and healthcare education. By providing an immersive, hands-on learning experience, it allows students to explore real human anatomy in ways that were once only possible in a cadaver lab. This interactive technology helps deepen understanding, build critical thinking skills, and better prepare students for careers in healthcare.

It was exciting to see educators from across our region learning together, sharing best practices, and discovering new ways to bring anatomy and physiology to life in the classroom. Investing in innovative tools like the Anatomage Table means investing in our students' futures!

🚧 Big Changes Are Coming to Lake Placid High School's Building Construction Technology Program! 🚧

Take a look at these photos of our empty Building Construction Technology lab—it may not look like much today, but it won't stay this way for long!

A huge thank you to Instructor Michael Thomas, who has been working tirelessly to clear out the lab in preparation for our $371,000 Capitalization Grant (CAP) renovation. Our new forklift has been a game changer, helping move equipment and prepare the space for an incredible transformation.

When this project is complete, students will walk into a state-of-the-art construction lab featuring:
🔨 Brand-new construction power equipment
✨ New lighting throughout
🎨 Freshly painted walls
🏗️ A durable new epoxy flake floor
🔧 Modernized workspaces from floor to ceiling

This investment is about much more than a renovated classroom—it's about creating opportunities. Students will train with industry-standard tools and equipment, gaining the hands-on skills employers are looking for in careers such as carpentry, residential and commercial construction, framing, remodeling, cabinetry, project management, and skilled trades. They'll graduate better prepared with industry certifications, continue their education, or step directly into high-demand, high-wage careers.

We're excited to watch this transformation unfold and can't wait to share the finished lab with our students and community. The future of Building Construction Technology at Lake Placid High School is looking brighter than ever! 💙💛🐲

🏆 VOTE FOR SEBRING HIGH SCHOOL! 🏆

Sebring High School's Welding Program has been selected as a finalist in the Statewide Welding & Fabrication Challenge and is now competing for the Secondary People's Choice Award!

The challenge featured outstanding welding and fabrication projects from schools across Florida, and our students' hard work, creativity, and craftsmanship have earned them a spot among the best with their Mini BBQ Smoker.

🎉 Congratulations to the Nursing students at Lake Placid High School on earning their Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) certification! 🎉

This achievement marks a major milestone as these students become the first to earn a medical industry certification at Lake Placid High School.

A special recognition goes to Instructor Kaitlyn Hoyle for an outstanding first year in the classroom. As a Certified Registered Nurse, Mrs. Hoyle brought not only her professional experience but also a true passion for helping students learn, grow, and reach their goals. Her dedication to student success has already made a lasting impact and helped pave the way for future achievements in the program.

We are incredibly proud of these students for their hard work and commitment, and excited to see what the future holds for healthcare education at Lake Placid High School! 🩺👏
