Thank You to CC Studio Sebring for hosting ANOTHER super fun Pilates class at Station 14 tonight, giving members of the Sebring Fire Department and the Sebring Police Department the opportunity to train side by side. Stay tuned for the blooper reel from CC Studio!!

First responder health and wellness is critical to the work we do every day. Taking time to strengthen our bodies, improve flexibility, and focus on injury prevention helps ensure we’re ready to serve when our community needs us most.

It was also a great opportunity for our fire department and police department to come together outside of emergency scenes and share lots of laughs together as we become stronger as a team. That unity directly benefits the community we’re proud to serve! πŸš’πŸš”

The members of Sebring Fire Department extend our deepest condolences to the St. Lucie County Fire District as they mourn the loss of one of their own. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow firefighters during this difficult time. πŸš’β€οΈ

It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of one of our own.

Today, we mourn the passing of a dedicated firefighter, a valued member of the St. Lucie County Fire District family, a loving son and brother, and a friend to many.

We ask that you keep his family, friends, and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We are grateful for his service, his dedication, and the impact he had on those around him.

As we mourn this loss, we remain committed to serving our community with the same dedication and sense of purpose that define the fire service.

Rest easy, Brother. Your service, dedication, and friendship will never be forgotten. You will always remain a member of the St. Lucie County Fire District family.

Please remember Highlands County is still in a Burn Ban through June 16! 🚫πŸ”₯

🌧️ Recent rainfall across Highlands County is welcome news, and conditions are beginning to improve.

However, drought recovery doesn't happen overnight.

While rain helps moisten grasses and surface vegetation, it can take weeks or even months of consistent rainfall for deeper soil moisture levels to fully recover after an extended drought.

That means wildfire risk can remain elevated even when everything looks greener than it did a few days ago.

The recent rain is a step in the right direction, but continued caution and outdoor fire safety remain important throughout Highlands County.

πŸ”₯ Stay alert.
πŸ”₯ Follow local burn restrictions.
πŸ”₯ Be mindful of activities that could create sparks or open flames.

Small actions can help prevent wildfires while our area continues to recover.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Probationary Firefighter/EMT Olivero of the Sebring Fire Department Honor Guard performed a Missing Man Table Ceremony, as a symbol of remembrance, respect, and gratitude for those who never made it home. This Memorial Day, we reflect on their courage and sacrifice, and we stand united in honoring their legacy.

We would like to thank the Florida Medal of Honor Memorial for allowing our department to perform the Missing Man Table Ceremony on site. Thank You to Legacy 1912, Pink Pineapple Catering Company and Hobby Hill Design, we could not have performed this ceremony without your generosity. We are so thankful to be a part of a community willing to step in and help honor those who have given so much to us!

During the Tuesday, May 19th City of Sebring, Florida- Government City Council Meeting, Mayor John Shoop read a proclamation designating this week as EMS Appreciation Week in recognition of the dedicated emergency medical professionals who serve our community each and every day.

Following the proclamation, Assistant Chief Austin Maddox presented the Sebring Fire Department Chief’s Award to Captain/Paramedic Rivera, Senior Engineer Waldron, Firefighter/EMT Cruz, along with Firefighter/Paramedic Sorensen and Firefighter/EMT Bobo, two members of Highlands County Fire Rescue, for their exceptional efforts in saving the life of a patient experiencing cardiac arrest.

On May 7, 2026, Engine 15, Rescue 10, and Captain/Paramedic Rivera responded to a local restaurant after reports of an individual in cardiac arrest. Upon arrival, Senior Engineer Waldron and Firefighter/EMT Cruz immediately began patient assessments, utilized an AED to deliver a life-saving shock, and initiated CPR and ventilations. Once Rescue 10 and Captain/Paramedic Rivera arrived on scene, advanced life support measures were implemented before the patient was transported to a local hospital for continued care.

On May 12, 2026, this individual was released from the hospital.

This successful outcome highlights the importance of rapid response, teamwork, training, and access to lifesaving equipment. We want to acknowledge that without the continued support of our City Council and community, we would not have the training, personnel, and equipment necessary to make moments like this possible.

This life was saved because of the investment our community and local leadership continue to make in public safety. Thank you for ensuring we have the resources needed to protect and serve the City of Sebring.

Last week, the Sebring Fire Department and Highlands County Fire Rescue completed Water Rescue Training at Veterans Beach Memorial Park.

Training together is critical, as our departments regularly respond alongside one another on mutual aid incidents throughout the community. Opportunities like this help strengthen communication, coordination, and create a more seamless integration when emergencies happen.

As we move closer to summer and spend more time around pools, lakes, and waterways, we also want to remind everyone about the importance of swim safety. Always supervise children near water, wear life jackets when appropriate, and never underestimate changing water conditions.

We appreciate the continued partnership with Highlands County Fire Rescue and the commitment both departments share in keeping our community safe.

*SFD and HCFR completed various emergency techniques that required a simulated emergency response, but these were for training purposes only. No one pictured was in need of emergency assistance.
