Congratulations to the High Tech High School eSports NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!

The students competed against over 300 schools from across the nation at the EFG National Championship, May 15th - 17th, in San Antonio, Texas. This is the 4th year in a row Mr. Krinsky has led the team to a National Championship.

Additionally, senior Matteo Amy was awarded the EGF MVP 2026 Forge Award for the High School League.

High Tech High School is proud to announce that the school’s Chess Team captured a national championship title with an impressive 2–0 sweep at the national competition. Demonstrating focus, strategy, and teamwork throughout the event, the team earned first place through an outstanding performance against top competitors from across the country.

Led by coach Mr. Krinsky and team captain Ali Issa, the team showcased exceptional skill and composure throughout the championship rounds.

On Thursday, May 21, the Interact Club at High Tech High School held its annual Induction and Awards Ceremony, welcoming new members and celebrating graduating seniors for their commitment to service and leadership.
The evening highlighted the club’s motto, “Service Above Self,” and featured the presentation of the Service Above Self Award to three outstanding students: Aki Chen, club president, for her exceptional leadership and dedication; Macy Phillips, senior class president, for her school involvement and contributions to campus life; and Katerina Christopoulos, outreach director, for her commitment to community service and volunteer initiatives.
Graduating seniors were recognized for their years of service, while new members were officially inducted into the organization. The ceremony concluded with appreciation for Mr. Morrison for his support and guidance in making the event a success. DG

County Prep’s National Math Honor Society participated in the annual Mathematical Minutes competition held by NMHS!

The Mathematical Minutes Competition requires National Math Honor Society Members to film an educational Math Lesson in a creative way! With there being 8 chosen among all submissions for the competition!

We’re excited to announce that our Chapter secured 1st place! This not only means that we secure bragging rights for winning on our first attempt, but also a cash prize of $750 towards the chapter!

As part of our Building Community Partnerships initiative, our Wolfpack students visited the Guttenberg Housing Authority and participated in meaningful community service activities alongside residents.

During the visit, students enjoyed painting, crafts, and puzzles while building connections and sharing time with members of the community. Experiences like these help strengthen empathy, communication, and intergenerational relationships.

On May 1st, our district proudly presented Career Day at County Prep High School, giving students the opportunity to learn directly from professionals representing a wide range of career fields and industries.

Throughout the day, presenters shared their professional experiences through brief presentations and interactive question-and-answer sessions. The event was designed to help students explore future career paths, gain motivation and advice from working professionals, and build valuable networking connections.

Students were introduced to careers in fields including healthcare, business and finance, media and communication, arts and design, public safety, education, law, engineering, information technology, transportation, hospitality, social services, and many more.

Representatives from numerous organizations and companies participated in the event, including the Jersey City Fire Department, Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, Panasonic, Wells Fargo, UPS, The Walt Disney Company, FBI, Avis Budget Group, Freddie Mac, and many other local businesses, universities, healthcare organizations, and community agencies.

Career Day provided students with meaningful insight into the professional world while reinforcing the importance of career exploration, communication, and future planning. Thank you to all of the presenters and organizations who took the time to inspire and support our students as they prepare for their future careers. DG

High Tech High School senior Julio Journett, a student in the D|Fab Academy Welding Technology program, placed seventh overall at the 2026 UTI-Bloomfield Welding Tech Challenge. He also received a $1,000 educational grant from Universal Technical Institute to support future technical training opportunities.

The competition brought together high school welding students from across the region to showcase hands-on welding skills, technical knowledge, and craftsmanship. Julio’s achievement reflects the dedication and technical ability he has developed through High Tech High School’s Welding Technology program.

The D|Fab Academy continues to provide students with career-focused, hands-on learning experiences that prepare them for industry and postsecondary opportunities in skilled trades and advanced manufacturing. DG

The High Tech High School Performing Arts Academy is proud to share the accomplishments of our Dance Choreography Division majors, under the direction of Ms. Heather Warfel, at this year’s Hudson County Teen Arts Festival on Friday, April 24th.

The Hudson County Teen Arts Festival highlights student-created work across disciplines and provides a space for young artists to share their pieces with professional adjudicators.

The Dance Choreography majors were recognized for their originality and performance quality, earning the following distinctions:
Bronze Medal – Grounded
Bronze Medal – To the River
Additionally, junior Melody Hartman Kelly and senior Angelina Mendez were awarded Top Honors for their performance of Comfortably Numb, choreographed by Melody. The duo was also invited to represent High Tech High School and perform Comfortably Numb at the upcoming New Jersey State Teen Arts Festival. DG

Congratulations to the 35 HCST students from High Tech High School and County Prep High School who earned their Associate Degrees through Hudson County Community College’s Early College Program before graduating high school!

Today, 33 seniors and 2 juniors proudly walked in the Hudson County Community College Commencement Ceremony at Sports Illustrated Stadium alongside college graduates from across the county.

We are incredibly proud of our students for this outstanding accomplishment and grateful to our school counselors, educators, families, and HCCC partners who helped support them throughout this journey.
