On Sunday, May 10, 2026, at approximately 2200 hrs, Battalion Chief Bryan Schoch, Chief of the 2nd Battalion Group A, suffered a medical emergency. BC Schoch was treated on scene and transported to Clara Maas Hospital, Belleville, NJ, where he remains under the care of medical personnel and surrounded by family, friends, and members of the Jersey City and Secaucus Fire Departments.on scene and transported to Clara Maas Hospital, Belleville, NJ, where he remains under the care of medical personnel and surrounded by family, friends, and members of the Jersey City and Secaucus Fire Departments.
On Friday May 15 2026 at 1300 The staff of Clara Maas Hospital and the NJ Sharing Network will conduct a ceremonial “Walk of Honor” prior to the organ donation procedure. During this ceremony, uniformed personnel will line the hospital corridor as BC Schoch is es**rted from his room to the Operating Room. After his last act of bravery on this earth, providing Life Saving organs and tissue, he will be extubated. Bryan will pass from this life into God's arms.
Jersey City Firefighters and Officers are requested to report to Clara Maas Hospital no later then 1230 hrs at the main entrance, BC Ken Simone will assemble personnel and provide the orders for the ceremony. Following this very brief ceremony, all personnel will be dismissed. A small contingent will remain to support the family during the surgical procedure.
Following completion of the procedure, Jersey City Battalion Chief Bryan Schoch (also a former Chief Of Department for Secaucus Fire) will be moved from the hospital,to the funeral home to be prepared.
The New Jersey State Police, Jersey City and Secaucus Police Departments, Jersey City Fire Department, and Secaucus Fire Department will ceremoniously es**rt the hearse from Clara Maas Hospital to McCracken Funeral Home Memorial Home, 1500 Morris Ave Union NJ
