The parents in this documentary all had one thing in common: they never thought they would lose their child to addiction.

"We never thought it would happen to our child."

Those are the words echoed by countless parents affected by opioid addiction and overdose.

Many families don't see the warning signs. Some don't know what to look for. Others believe addiction happens somewhere else - to someone else's child, someone else's family.

Not My Kid is a powerful documentary that shares the real stories of parents, individuals in recovery, and families whose lives were forever changed by opioid addiction. Through their experiences, viewers gain insight into the signs that are often missed, the impact addiction has on loved ones, and the hope that recovery can bring.

Addiction does not discriminate. It affects every age, every background, every neighborhood, and every family.

If this documentary helps one parent recognize a warning sign, start a conversation, or seek help for someone they love, it could save a life.

Take the time to watch. Share with someone you care about. The next conversation could make all the difference.

Not My Child is a film about substance use disorders. Which means you are inviting parents to an event on a subject that they probably don’t want to think about. And that’s okay. 💚"You don't have to look broken to be struggling"💚

This Mental Health Awareness Month, let's talk about the things people hide behind: smiles, busy schedules, and "I'm fine."

Mental health affects EVERYONE - parents, teens, coworkers, friends, first responders, students, farmers, teachers, and neighbors. Some battles are invisible, but they are still real.

*Check on the strong friend.
*Take a break when you need one.
*Ask for help without shame.
*Listen without judgment.

At Pettis County Health Center, we believe mental health is just as important as physical health. Seeking support is not a weakness - it's a strength.

💚 One conversation could change, or even save a life.
