Today we would like to recognize CPT Tyler Brown for his service to the 35th CAB and to the Missouri National Guard! CPT Brown served with the 35th CAB within the S3 Section since August, during which time he has done an immaculate job during the Warfighter we just finished! We would like to thank CPT Brown for all he has done for the 35th CAB and Missouri National Guard, and wish him the best of luck on all future endeavors he tackles!
We would like to congratulate SSG Preston Murry on receiving the Army Commendation Medal! SSG Murry received this medal for his outstanding work over the last six years as the 1-135th AB’s Electronics Warfare NCOIC and Assistant Aviation Operations NCO! We look forward to having you within our unit and congratulate you on a very deserved award!
It is with great pleasure we recognize Mitchell Taylor on his promotion to Sergeant! SGT Taylor has been an instrumental member of our unit, he continually steps up to assist where he can, and performs exceedingly well in any task or role given to him! SGT Taylor is truly one of our finest, and we know he will do incredibly well in his new role as an NCO!
Please help us congratulate Thomas Maldanodo on receiving the rank of Specialist today! SPC Maldanodo has worked dutifully hard within the 35th CAB, especially throughout the duration of the Warfighter Exercise! We look forward to seeing you continue to grow and congratulate you on a very well-deserved promotion!
It is with great pleasure that we recognize SGT Benjamin Payne on receiving the Army Achievement Medal! SGT Payne received this medal for graduating with honors from the Religious Affairs Specialist Course! During his time there he placed on the Superior Academic Achievement List with a GPA of 97.04%! Please help us congratulate SGT Payne for his outstanding work!
Today, SSG Paul Karg received the Army Achievement Medal for his incredible performance at the Senior Leaders Course! While there, SSG Karg ranked 1 out of 15 in leadership performance and superior ratings on all evaluations, and he earned the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy Fitness Award! SSG Karg is truly an incredible NCO and great role model for fellow service members! Congratulations on the well-received award SSG Karg!
With our Warfighter Exercise coming to a close, members of our team spent today tearing down and packing away tents and equipment for our eventual departure back to Missouri! Our unit did a marvelous job here throughout the entirety of the exercise, performing exceedingly well under ever changing conditions, and refined our tools/knowledge for future exercises!
Please help us congratulate Billie Thompson on starting the process of becoming a Warrant Officer! Candidate Thompson works diligently as the 35th CAB’s Supply Sergeant, and has worked continually hard to improve all aspects of the unit’s supply and equipment! We look forward to seeing your progress and wish you the best of luck on this adventure!
Today we would like to recognize Dasia Williams on being promoted to the rank of Specialist! SPC Williams has worked incredibly hard in the 35th CAB’s Supply! We truly appreciate everything you do to help support members of the 35th CAB, and congratulations on a well-earned promotion SPC Williams!
Everything is nearly entirely set up! Today, ADVON members of the 35th CAB continued prepping the interior of the tent! The effort over the last several days has focused on set up, with the remaining members of the unit scheduled to arrive soon, the unit is shifting focus to the small details that will help the CAB step off on the right foot into the Warfighter Exercise!
Tents are up and the flooring is down! Our team worked incredibly hard today finishing putting up tents, generators, installing flooring, setting up computers and the network! In addition, members of the unit met with our counterparts, field service representatives support, and contractors who’ll be assisting us throughout the duration of the exercise! The team work between our sections both here and back home has been amazing and made setting up run smoothly! The 35th CAB is nearly ready to take on the exciting challenges this Warfighter will bring our way!
In continuation of yesterday, members of the 35th CAB continued to set up tents and our area of operation for the duration of the Warfighter Exercise! We want to thank these members for their hard work and dedication to ensuring the unit is set up for success when the main body arrives and the exercise begins in the coming days!
Today, members of the 35th CAB worked hard at Camp Atterbury to begin setting up our equipment for the coming Warfighter Training Exercise. Over the next few days the rest of the unit will be traveling to Indiana for the exercise. During this time, the CAB will put all of the training we received in June at the CPX to use!
Throughout the entirety of the State Combined Staff Inspection, MSG Amy Pulliam-Pawli worked exceedingly hard to enhance the production and performance of all the S-1 Sections within our Brigade, and for her incredible work, she was awarded the Army Commendation Medal today! Thanks to MSG Pulliam-Pawli, our S-1 Section was able to receive an overall score of 96%! We are truly thankful for everything you do for us and are proud to have a strong example of excellence for our soldiers!
It is with tremendous pleasure we congratulate Anthony Schreffler on receiving his promotion to Captain today! CPT Schreffler has served as the 35th CAB’s company commander for little over a year now, during which time he has done an outstanding job leading, and regularly continues to improve the unit every day! During today’s ceremony, CPT Schreffler was pinned by his father, General James Scheffler, wife Nicola Scheffler, and children! Please help us congratulate CPT Schreffler on a well deserved promotion!

Today we did something a little different, in light of how busy the 35th CAB has been and how hard our soldiers have been working, we held a Family Day to recognize our member’s families and all the support they have given! We truly do appreciate everything you do to keep us going, and hope that all who were able to attend today had a wonderful time!
Today we had the privilege of witnessing Reinaldo Colonburgos receive his promotion to Sergeant First Class! SFC Colonburgos is one outstanding NCO, and we are so grateful that we were able to witness his promotion today! Congratulations SFC Colonburgos! Keep up the outstanding work!
While representing the 35th CAB at the Best Warrior Competition, SGT Keifer Martin really set himself apart, in turn receiving the Army Commendation Medal! SGT Martin displayed superior knowledge on a multitude of different areas whether that be tactical or technical! SGT Martin worked incredibly hard to get ready and perform at the Best Warrior Competition, and we couldn’t think of a better soldier to represent the 35th CAB than him!
We would like to recognize SSG Mary Reifsteck on receiving the Army Commendation Medal today for her incredible work assisting the 1-135th! During the 1-135th’s Aviation Resource Management Survey, SSG Reifsteck greatly assisted them in their success of the medical portion of their inspection! We are truly thankful to have such an incredible NCO, who is willing to assist other units when the need arises! Thank you for all that you do SSG Reifsteck, and Congratulations!
During the lead up to the Missouri National Guard’s Best Warrior Competition, SGT Micah Ray volunteered to help coach and mentor SGT Martin on all areas of the competition, and for that he was awarded the Missouri Commendation Medal today! SGT Ray worked diligently hard to make sure SGT Martin was as prepared as he could be for the Best Warrior, often giving up countless hours of his personal time! The 35th CAB is truly thankful for what you did to assist SGT Martin, Thank You SGT Ray and Congratulations on the well-deserved award!
Please help us congratulate Aaron Riley on being promoted to Specialist today! SPC Riley continues to work diligently hard, and he has always maintained a positive attitude in any situation he is in! During his time at our previous annual training, we got to see how hard of a worker, and how infectious his positivity could be! We are truly proud of all the hard work you do and Congratulations on the well-earned promotion SPC Riley!
We would like to recognize Damien Hendricks on his promotion today to Sergeant! SGT Hendricks has worked incredibly hard to get to where he is today, and we look forward to his continued growth and potential! While SGT Hendricks is a newer face here, we know he’ll fit in amazingly and continue to strive further to not only develop himself and grow, but others within the organization as well! Keep up the amazing work SGT Hendricks!
Today the 35th CAB held a change of command from the outgoing Brigade Commander LTC Timothy Hodges to the new incoming Brigade Commander LTC Paul Howerton! LTC Hodges has served the 35th CAB incredibly well, often times mentoring fellow Officers and NCOs; as well as providing a good direction for the unit to go and develop! LTC Hodges will now go on to take command the 1107th, a role we know he will do outstandingly well at! We would like to also welcome LTC Howerton as the new Brigade Commander for the 35th CAB! While LTC Howerton has served in other roles within the unit, we know whole-heartedly that he will lead us amazingly and do an incredible job!
Please help us recognize Captain Samuel Thomas on retiring after 21 incredible years of service! CPT Thomas served as the 35th CAB’s Chemical Officer, a role which we were thankful to have such a talented officer be in! Over the years CPT Thomas has helped mold, inspire, and mentor countless individuals, ranging from many walks of life! We are truly going to miss such an outstanding leader and friend! Congratulations CPT Thomas! We appreciate all that you have done to assist not only the 35th CAB, but all the members within as well!
It is with tremendous pleasure that we recognize SFC Seth Pawli accomplishments at annual training this year, which led to him receiving his third Oak Leaf Cluster for the Army Achievement Medal! Over the course of the Command Post Exercise, SFC Pawli served as the Fires Support NCOIC, upon which he demonstrated extreme subject knowledge on the Fires Support Operations within the CPOF system! Also, SFC Pawli created all the CPOF products for the Fires Support Operations and efficiently explained to his team how the systems operated, and the proper order to complete them quickly! From the beginning to the end of the Command Post Exercise, SFC Pawli dedicated himself to the exercise often staying late to ensure everything was completed in a timely manner and assisting others to accomplish a successful outcome! We truly appreciate all that you do for the 35th CAB SFC Pawli and are grateful to have such an outstanding soldier like you on our team!
Over the course of the annual training Command Post Exercise, PFC Thomas Maldonado displayed his incredible knowledge of the CPOF system, which ultimately led to him receiving the Missouri National Guard Commendation Ribbon today! While our team was conducting the Command Post Exercise, PFC Maldonado assisted in not only pushing out critical information to his peers and leadership, training others on the CPOF system, and would regularly put himself in high stress positions to contribute to the overall success of the exercise! Please help us give a round of applause to such an incredible member of our team!
It is with tremendous honor that we recognize such a remarkable officer, leader, and mentor on his promotion to Major today! Major Benjamin Hansen currently serves as the 35th CAB's S4, and during his time in this role he has greatly improved the effectiveness of the unit; as well as, helping mentor others whether that be enlisted, warrant officers, or other commissioned officers! MAJ Hansen continues to be a wellspring of knowledge and positivity, which we are continuously grateful to have him on our team! We truly appreciate all that you do and are proud of your accomplishment today!
Please help us recognize one outstanding member of our team, SPC Rashad Welch! SPC Welch received the Army Achievement Medal for his incredible work throughout this year's annual training! During AT, SPC Welch worked diligently to assist in all sorts of electrical, network, and software troubleshooting problems that anyone faced! In addition, during the M4A1 Qualification Range, SPC Welch assisted our Range Safety Team in countless ways to make sure that everything ran smoothly! We truly appreciate everything you do, and Congratulations on the well-earned award SPC Welch!
Today we close out on a well-executed and successful annual training! Our team members worked dutifully hard to overcome all the challenges and obstacles that were thrown their way!
After setting up our new tents on arrival, the 35th CAB went straight into our Command Post Exercise and Combined Arms Rehearsal! During which many soldiers set themselves apart and improved our overall understanding of battle drills, CPOF systems, SOPs, and much more! While our CPX and CAR were going on, we had the privilege to have The Adjutant General of Missouri Major General Levon Cumpton, Deputy Adjutant General of Missouri Brigadier General Charles Hausman, and his command team visit and impart words of wisdom/guidance upon our team!
Immediately after the CPX and CAR, our team spent the remainder of our time at Fort Leonard Wood training on multiple weapon systems and qualification ranges! Initially we started on the Engagement Skills Trainer (EST), which consisted of normal qualification, qualifying at night, and qualifying with their gas masks on! Directly after we trained on the M4A1, M17, and Crew Serve Weapons qualification ranges!
In addition, not only did members of our team go on an incentive flight, but we also had fellow service members from the United States Marine Corps join us!
Our team worked incredibly hard to make this annual training successful, and we are truly grateful for such an outstanding team of soldiers who go above and beyond to improve not only the 35th CAB, but the people within as well!
To recognize all the hard work everyone put into making this annual training as successful as possible, members of the 35th CAB were able to enjoy and rest with an incredible MWR day today! While out at Centennial Park, our team engaged in numerous team building activities such as a kickball tournament and co****le matches!
We would like to thank Little Big Horn for assisting in smoking the meat we had today, and for providing sides! Thank you so much for your support. We truly appreciate what you did!
The 35th CAB would like to recognize SSG Bryan Gillette on receiving his first Oak Leaf Cluster for the Army Commendation Medal, which he earned for his incredible efforts throughout the entirety of AT! Throughout the duration of the Command Post Exercise, SSG Gillette kept the power generators running uninterruptedly, which led to great success within! In addition, SSG Gillette single handedly devised a refuel plan to keep all fifteen generators fueled during the duration of the Command Post Exercise, which pumped a total of one-thousand-four-hundred gallons to sustain command post operations! Lastly, SSG Gillette ensured that his convoy drivers were properly licensed, equipped, and ready throughout the entirety of AT! Please help us recognize such an incredible leader, and truly amazing person! Thank you SSG Gillette for everything you do for the 35th CAB!
Please help us congratulate SSG Damian Shiflett on receiving his first Oak Leaf Cluster for the Army Commendation Medal, which he was awarded for his stellar performance throughout our annual training event! Throughout the annual training SSG Shiflett covered down as the secondary expert for all S3 operations, and with his knowledge and expertise, everything was able to be conducted efficiently and effectively! SSG Shiflett took extreme ownership of operating the analog map for the Brigade’s Tactical Operation Center exercise, and with his attention to detail and high standards, the map was always up to date and readily available at a moment’s notice! In addition, SSG Shiflett was the NCOIC for the Geospatial section of the Brigade S3, which he worked effectively by backwards planning and bringing quality products to the table! SSG Shiflett continues to be an incredible NCO and Leader within the 35th CAB, and we truly appreciate that that he does to assist our unit and the members within! Congratulations SSG Shiflett!
Please help us congratulate MSG Jordan Bennett on receiving his second Oak Leaf Cluster for the Army Commendation Medal! MSG Bennett earned this award for his incredible efforts to assist the 35th CAB with our annual training this year; during our time at Fort Leonard Wood MSG Bennett ensure that every soldier had lodging, meals, fuel, protective equipment, and daily supplies needed to be successful for the day! Often MSG Bennett would work well over twelve hours a day and was always available in the event of an emergency; in addition, MSG Bennett would always put the brigade’s mission and soldiers before himself! While serving as the Senior Supply NCO, MSG Bennett also found time to serve as the 35th CAB’s Company First Sergeant, which he would not only plan and execute but also ensure that every soldier was taken care of! Later into the annual training MSG Bennett personally ensure that all the ranges were conducted efficiently, limited an unnecessary lag time, arranged a proper work/rest cycle, and overall support in any way he could to see that everything went perfectly! We truly appreciate everything you did to support everyone throughout annual training MSG Bennett! Thank you for all you do!
Today, SSG Jared English received his second Oak Leaf Cluster for the Army Achievement Medal, for performing such a stellar accomplishments and performance throughout the entirety of our 2022 Annual Training! During his time there, SSG English demonstrated his leadership capabilities while acting as the Company Readiness NCO during our transition of receiving a new one! In addition, SSG English exhibited great attention to detail for soldier development, by assisting in teaching twenty-three soldiers on how to properly pre-stage, setup, and operate our new air beam tents! Over the course of AT it was evident that SSG English continuously outperformed any expectation, his expertise on countless systems and areas benefitted everyone, he would often take time to assist anyone at a moments notice and still find time to meet his deadlines, and overall worked fluently with everyone around him! We are truly thankful that SSG English is a member of our team and are grateful for all that he does to support the members of the 35th CAB both visibly and behind the scenes!
It is with great pleasure that we recognize SSG Tyler Hughes for his stellar performance at this year’s annual training, which in turn led to him being awarded the Army Commendation Medal! SSG Hughes helped the 35th CAB tremulously but performing as the NCOIC for the EST range, covered down for the Protection Cell during the Command Post Exercise, and was the M4A1 weapons qualification range NCOIC! During his time in all of those roles, SSG Hughes displayed a huge presence and brought along a vast amount of knowledge, which ultimately helped the 35th CAB reach the success that we did! Thanks to SSG Hughes knowledge and leadership, we were able to get a 100% Go for all 3 qualifications at the EST Range! Also, during the M4A1 weapons qualification range SSG Hughes stepped up to organize and plan all range operations, which was normally meant for Senior NCOs and Officers; in turn, resulting in 70 out of 71 soldiers qualified! SSG Hughes was truly a blessing to have assist us throughout the entirety of AT, and we appreciate everything you did to support our training and exercises! Congratulations SSG Hughes on the well-deserved award!
Today we would like to congratulate SFC Mitchell Mason on receiving his second Oak Leaf Cluster for the Army Commendation Medal! SFC Mason was an integral member of our team throughout the whole duration of annual training, he was the medical representative during the Command Post Exercise, assisted in getting soldiers where they needed to be by volunteering to drive the bus, and conducted range medical coverage! While out at the range, SFC Mason also volunteered to coach individuals on their Basic Rifle Marksmanship skills, which in turn led to numerous individual qualifying! During the Command Post Exercise, SFC Mason provided advice and guidance on the MEDEVAC operations and nine-line evacuation portion! Please help us congratulate such an outstanding leader! Congratulations SFC Mason!
Please help us congratulate SGT Kyle Lucianovelez on receiving the Army Achievement Medal for all of his incredible work throughout annual training! While at annual training SGT Lucianovelez took charge during the set up and preparation of the Command Post Exercise, he ensured everything was set up properly and ready for the exercise ahead! In addition, SGT Lucianovelez worked hard to foster a positive environment throughout the training, often assisting where he could throughout the course of the Command Post Exercise! SGT Lucianovelez regularly displayed what it meant to be a team player, as well as a mentor to other soldiers within the 35th CAB! Keep up the stellar performance SGT Lucianovelez, and Congratulations!
Throughout the course of AT this year, SPC Derek Carey continually stepped up to help others and demonstrate his abilities, which is why today he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal! SPC Carey went well out of his way to train both junior Enlisted and NCOs who needed assistance in the set up and maintenance of our new tents! In addition, SPC Carey proved himself as a skilled marksman on the M4A1 qualification range as not only as a firer, but as a coach to help others as well! During the Command Post Exercise, SPC Carey displayed his proficiency in his MOS knowledge to assist members of the 35th CAB regardless of section and help drive the overall success of the unit’s CPX! We are truly thankful to have a team player like SPC Carey on our team, and proud of all that you do to help others! Congratulations on this well-earned award!
It is with great pleasure we recognize PFC Joseph Abarr on being awarded the Army Achievement Medal for his stellar performance at annual training this year! PFC Abarr has regularly shown all the qualities of an outstanding solder, from his extremely hard work ethic to his incredibly positive attitude in any given situation! Throughout the exercises, PFC Abarr continuously went out of his way to assist anyone he could with any task given, whether it be cross training with the S6 on saving system products in the CPOF System, working with the 15Ps to learn flight operations and warfighting function of the brigade staff, or taking charge of the analog map for the Tactical Operations Center! PFC Abarr always went above and beyond for others, even out of the scope of his MOS, and we are truly thankful for his incredible attitude and work! Please help us congratulate one fine soldier and member of our team, Congratulations PFC Abarr! Keep up the outstanding work!
