Tents are up and the flooring is down! Our team worked incredibly hard today finishing putting up tents, generators, installing flooring, setting up computers and the network! In addition, members of the unit met with our counterparts, field service representatives support, and contractors who’ll be assisting us throughout the duration of the exercise! The team work between our sections both here and back home has been amazing and made setting up run smoothly! Throughout the entirety of the State Combined Staff Inspection, MSG Amy Pulliam-Pawli worked exceedingly hard to enhance the production and performance of all the S-1 Sections within our Brigade, and for her incredible work, she was awarded the Army Commendation Medal today! While representing the 35th CAB at the Best Warrior Competition, SGT Keifer Martin really set himself apart, in turn receiving the Army Commendation Medal! SGT Martin displayed superior knowledge on a multitude of different areas whether that be tactical or technical! Today the 35th CAB held a change of command from the outgoing Brigade Commander LTC Timothy Hodges to the new incoming Brigade Commander LTC Paul Howerton! LTC Hodges has served the 35th CAB incredibly well, often times mentoring fellow Officers and NCOs; as well as providing a good direction for the unit to go and develop! LTC Hodges will now go on to take command the 1107th, a role we know he will do outstandingly well at! We would like to also welcome LTC Howerton as the new Brigade Commander for the 35th CAB! It is with tremendous pleasure that we recognize SFC Seth Pawli accomplishments at annual training this year, which led to him receiving his third Oak Leaf Cluster for the Army Achievement Medal! Over the course of the Command Post Exercise, SFC Pawli served as the Fires Support NCOIC, upon which he demonstrated extreme subject knowledge on the Fires Support Operations within the CPOF system! Also, SFC Pawli created all the CPOF products for the Fires Support Operations and efficiently explained to his team how the systems operated, and the proper order to complete them quickly! From the beginning to the end of the Command Post Exercise, SFC Pawli dedicated himself to the exercise often staying late to ensure everything was completed in a timely manner and assisting others to accomplish a successful outcome! Over the course of the annual training Command Post Exercise, PFC Thomas Maldonado displayed his incredible knowledge of the CPOF system, which ultimately led to him receiving the Missouri National Guard Commendation Ribbon today! Today we close out on a well-executed and successful annual training! Our team members worked dutifully hard to overcome all the challenges and obstacles that were thrown their way!

After setting up our new tents on arrival, the 35th CAB went straight into our Command Post Exercise and Combined Arms Rehearsal! During which many soldiers set themselves apart and improved our overall understanding of battle drills, CPOF systems, SOPs, and much more! While our CPX and CAR were going on, we had the privilege to have The Adjutant General of Missouri Major General Levon Cumpton, Deputy Adjutant General of Missouri Brigadier General Charles Hausman, and his command team visit and impart words of wisdom/guidance upon our team!

Immediately after the CPX and CAR, our team spent the remainder of our time at Fort Leonard Wood training on multiple weapon systems and qualification ranges! Initially we started on the Engagement Skills Trainer (EST), which consisted of normal qualification, qualifying at night, and qualifying with their gas masks on! Directly after we trained on the M4A1, M17, and Crew Serve Weapons qualification ranges!

In addition, not only did members of our team go on an incentive flight, but we also had fellow service members from the United States Marine Corps join us!

Our team worked incredibly hard to make this annual training successful, and we are truly grateful for such an outstanding team of soldiers who go above and beyond to improve not only the 35th CAB, but the people within as well!

While out at Centennial Park, our team engaged in numerous team building activities such as a kickball tournament and co****le matches!

The 35th CAB would like to recognize SSG Bryan Gillette on receiving his first Oak Leaf Cluster for the Army Commendation Medal, which he earned for his incredible efforts throughout the entirety of AT! Throughout the duration of the Command Post Exercise, SSG Gillette kept the power generators running uninterruptedly, which led to great success within! In addition, SSG Gillette single handedly devised a refuel plan to keep all fifteen generators fueled during the duration of the Command Post Exercise, which pumped a total of one-thousand-four-hundred gallons to sustain command post operations! Lastly, SSG Gillette ensured that his convoy drivers were properly licensed, equipped, and ready throughout the entirety of AT! Please help us congratulate SSG Damian Shiflett on receiving his first Oak Leaf Cluster for the Army Commendation Medal, which he was awarded for his stellar performance throughout our annual training event! Throughout the annual training SSG Shiflett covered down as the secondary expert for all S3 operations, and with his knowledge and expertise, everything was able to be conducted efficiently and effectively! SSG Shiflett took extreme ownership of operating the analog map for the Brigade’s Tactical Operation Center exercise, and with his attention to detail and high standards, the map was always up to date and readily available at a moment’s notice! In addition, SSG Shiflett was the NCOIC for the Geospatial section of the Brigade S3, which he worked effectively by backwards planning and bringing quality products to the table! SSG Shiflett continues to be an incredible NCO and Leader within the 35th CAB, and we truly appreciate that that he does to assist our unit and the members within! Congratulations SSG Shiflett!

Please help us congratulate MSG Jordan Bennett on receiving his second Oak Leaf Cluster for the Army Commendation Medal! MSG Bennett earned this award for his incredible efforts to assist the 35th CAB with our annual training this year; during our time at Fort Leonard Wood MSG Bennett ensure that every soldier had lodging, meals, fuel, protective equipment, and daily supplies needed to be successful for the day! Often MSG Bennett would work well over twelve hours a day and was always available in the event of an emergency; in addition, MSG Bennett would always put the brigade’s mission and soldiers before himself! While serving as the Senior Supply NCO, MSG Bennett also found time to serve as the 35th CAB’s Company First Sergeant, which he would not only plan and execute but also ensure that every soldier was taken care of! Later into the annual training MSG Bennett personally ensure that all the ranges were conducted efficiently, limited an unnecessary lag time, arranged a proper work/rest cycle, and overall support in any way he could to see that everything went perfectly! We truly appreciate everything you did to support everyone throughout annual training MSG Bennett! Thank you for all you do!

Today, SSG Jared English received his second Oak Leaf Cluster for the Army Achievement Medal, for performing such a stellar accomplishments and performance throughout the entirety of our 2022 Annual Training! During his time there, SSG English demonstrated his leadership capabilities while acting as the Company Readiness NCO during our transition of receiving a new one! In addition, SSG English exhibited great attention to detail for soldier development, by assisting in teaching twenty-three soldiers on how to properly pre-stage, setup, and operate our new air beam tents! Over the course of AT it was evident that SSG English continuously outperformed any expectation, his expertise on countless systems and areas benefitted everyone, he would often take time to assist anyone at a moments notice and still find time to meet his deadlines, and overall worked fluently with everyone around him! We are truly thankful that SSG English is a member of our team and are grateful for all that he does to support the members of the 35th CAB both visibly and behind the scenes!

It is with great pleasure that we recognize SSG Tyler Hughes for his stellar performance at this year’s annual training, which in turn led to him being awarded the Army Commendation Medal! SSG Hughes helped the 35th CAB tremulously but performing as the NCOIC for the EST range, covered down for the Protection Cell during the Command Post Exercise, and was the M4A1 weapons qualification range NCOIC! During his time in all of those roles, SSG Hughes displayed a huge presence and brought along a vast amount of knowledge, which ultimately helped the 35th CAB reach the success that we did! Thanks to SSG Hughes knowledge and leadership, we were able to get a 100% Go for all 3 qualifications at the EST Range! Also, during the M4A1 weapons qualification range SSG Hughes stepped up to organize and plan all range operations, which was normally meant for Senior NCOs and Officers; in turn, resulting in 70 out of 71 soldiers qualified! SSG Hughes was truly a blessing to have assist us throughout the entirety of AT, and we appreciate everything you did to support our training and exercises! Today we would like to congratulate SFC Mitchell Mason on receiving his second Oak Leaf Cluster for the Army Commendation Medal! SFC Mason was an integral member of our team throughout the whole duration of annual training, he was the medical representative during the Command Post Exercise, assisted in getting soldiers where they needed to be by volunteering to drive the bus, and conducted range medical coverage! While out at the range, SFC Mason also volunteered to coach individuals on their Basic Rifle Marksmanship skills, which in turn led to numerous individual qualifying! During the Command Post Exercise, SFC Mason provided advice and guidance on the MEDEVAC operations and nine-line evacuation portion! Please help us congratulate such an outstanding leader! Throughout the course of AT this year, SPC Derek Carey continually stepped up to help others and demonstrate his abilities, which is why today he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal! SPC Carey went well out of his way to train both junior Enlisted and NCOs who needed assistance in the set up and maintenance of our new tents! In addition, SPC Carey proved himself as a skilled marksman on the M4A1 qualification range as not only as a firer, but as a coach to help others as well! During the Command Post Exercise, SPC Carey displayed his proficiency in his MOS knowledge to assist members of the 35th CAB regardless of section and help drive the overall success of the unit’s CPX! It is with great pleasure we recognize PFC Joseph Abarr on being awarded the Army Achievement Medal for his stellar performance at annual training this year! PFC Abarr has regularly shown all the qualities of an outstanding solder, from his extremely hard work ethic to his incredibly positive attitude in any given situation! Throughout the exercises, PFC Abarr continuously went out of his way to assist anyone he could with any task given, whether it be cross training with the S6 on saving system products in the CPOF System, working with the 15Ps to learn flight operations and warfighting function of the brigade staff, or taking charge of the analog map for the Tactical Operations Center! PFC Abarr always went above and beyond for others, even out of the scope of his MOS, and we are truly thankful for his incredible attitude and work!
