Open Door Service Center Open Door Service Center helps meet the basic needs of Pettis County, MO citizens.

Through our food pantry, service center,thrift shop and soup kitchen, Open Door Service Center helps meet the basic needs of the citizens of Pettis County, Missouri. We combat hunger, unemployment, basic life needs and poverty while believing in the dignity of each and every human being. Each month, we provide food boxes, hot nutritious meals at our soup kitchen (417 W. Pettis), household supplies

, and social services to more than 2100 families, and we also serve as a community resource center for regional aid organizations and programs. In addition to our basic services, we accept donations of furniture, clothing, and household items at our thrift shop (612 S. Hancock), and food, hygiene products, diapers and many other items at our pantry. (111 W. 6th Street)

Did you know Open Door Service Center Inc. offers monthly support programs for seniors and veterans in our community? ❤️

🥣 The Senior Box Program (CSFP) provides nutritious USDA foods each month including cereal, canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, rice, and protein items to help adults 60+ stretch food dollars and support better health.

VIP Program provides monthly food support for military veterans as a thank you for their service, while also helping stretch food budgets and improve nutrition.

If you or someone you know is:

✔️ An adult age 60+ within income guidelines

Did you know Open Door Service Center Inc. offers additional programs to help support members of our community? ❤️

📦 Senior Box Program
Available for adults age 60+ who meet income guidelines.

🇺🇸 VIP Program
Available for military veterans with proof of service/DD214 or military form.

These programs are available once each month and are provided in addition to our regular food boxes to help meet the ongoing needs of individuals and families in our community.

With the summer months upon us, the volunteer need at Open Door Service Center Inc. is still present — and we would love to have YOU join our team!

We welcome volunteers ages 16 and up, groups and individuals, and we also accept community service volunteers (some restrictions apply).

🌮 Taco About Tuesday Volunteer Spotlight 🌮

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on Lee!

Many of you probably recognize Lee from his many years working at Duke Manufacturing. A proud Sedalia native, Lee and his wife, Kim, have built a wonderful family with two children and three grandchildren.

When he’s not volunteering, Lee enjoys spending time with family and friends, fishing, and traveling with Kim to National Parks to take in the beauty of nature. And here’s a fun fact about Lee — when it comes to snacks, he’ll choose a good sharp cheese and crackers over sweets any day!

Lee has been volunteering with Open Door Food Pantry for the past seven months, helping pack food boxes along with sorting and distributing food to families in need.

What Lee enjoys most about volunteering is knowing that what we do truly makes a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Thank you, Lee, for your dedication, kindness, and servant’s heart. We are grateful to have you as part of the Open Door family! ❤️
