🔥👨‍🚒 CELEBRATING 1 YEAR OF SERVICE — FIREFIGHTER TYLER ESSELMAN! 👨‍🚒🔥

Today we proudly celebrate Firefighter Tyler Esselman’s 1‑year anniversary with the Sedgewickville Fire Protection District! 🎉

Tyler joined the department on October 13, 2025 and brought with him an incredible history of dedication and service. Before becoming part of our fire family, he served in the Army National Guard from 2007–2016, completing two deployments totaling 24 months in theater as an Infantryman and Combat Engineer. His service included disaster relief missions and even being temporarily deputized during the Ferguson unrest in 2014.

He’s become a valued member of our team — dependable, hardworking, and always ready to step up for his community.

We’re grateful for everything you bring to the district, Tyler. Here’s to your first year — and many more to come! 🚒💪

🔥🔋 FUN FRIDAY FACT! 🔋🔥
How many lithium‑ion batteries are hiding in your home right now?
Probably more than you think.

Phones, tablets, laptops, watches, earbuds, flashlights, toys, power tools, e‑bikes… they’re everywhere. These little energy packs make life easier — but they also mean we should all have a simple escape plan in case something overheats or malfunctions.

Here’s your friendly Friday reminder:
Count your battery-powered gadgets — You’ll be surprised
Check for damage or swelling — Replace anything suspicious
Keep chargers and devices off soft surfaces — Let them breathe
Practice your home escape plan — Two exits, one meeting spot, everyone knows the route

A few minutes of planning today can make a huge difference tomorrow.
Stay safe, stay curious, and enjoy your Fun Friday! 🎉🔥

🔥🔋 THERMAL RUNAWAY: THE “CHAIN REACTION” YOU DON’T WANT IN YOUR GADGETS! 🔋🔥

Ever wondered why everyone keeps talking about lithium‑ion battery safety?

Imagine a lithium‑ion battery as a tiny superhero team inside your phone or tablet. Most days, they work together perfectly — storing energy, powering games, keeping your selfies alive.

But sometimes, if the battery gets too hot, gets damaged, or is charged the wrong way, one superhero gets stressed… then another… then another… until the whole team starts a runaway chain reaction.
That’s called thermal runaway, and trust me, it’s way less fun than it sounds.

Here’s the simple version:
Too much heat — Battery gets hotter than it can handle
Chemical chain reaction — Inside parts start breaking down
More heat released — Heat builds faster than the battery can cool
Smoke or fire — The “runaway” part kicks in

But here’s the good news:
Staying safe is super easy — even for kids!

Use the right charger
Keep devices out of hot cars
Don’t crush, bend, or poke batteries
Replace swollen batteries

Think of it like caring for a pet: treat your battery kindly, and it’ll behave kindly right back.

So next time someone says “thermal runaway,” you can smile and say:
“Oh yeah — that’s when a battery gets way too dramatic.”

Stay safe, stay curious, and keep those gadgets happy! 🔋✨
