VOTE JENNIFER August 2, 2022…
Another great week with residents! Everyone shared passionate ideas that expressed their heart’s desires. Here is what the Voices of Our Community had to say last glorious Sunday:
1. What would it look like if Sedona hotels embraced a 15% Consciousness Donation to all its guests at the time of checkout? This idea was inspired by a tiny remote island. Where locals came to the realization that their land and community mattered, which they asked themselves, how can we do more….
Thus, one day, they embraced their value-driven culture to integrat their vision for community building with the heart of travelers to request this friendly donation. Instead of calling it ROI (Return on Investment), they called it ROI (Return on Impact). In this sense, the community was able to rebuild and heal the land from the volume of travelers impacting its resources.
In the end, the extra funds allowed them to accomplish such essential, quality of life projects as digging wells for fresh water as well as building an entire coconut processing factory. Nourishing coconut products were made like lotions, soaps, etcetera. The amazing thing is that this reality to collect funds only took one-year’s time. As a tourist-centered industry, the locals saw the opportunity to build a second industry: coconut products…
After hearing this short story, what would Sedona look like if hotels embraced this consciousness donation model to help better the community? As a local here in Sedona, what would you feel inspired to spend the collective money on and vision to create for a brighter tomorrow?
2. Last week, some locals voiced their vision for Sedona to embrace Eco-tourism. The example applied was from Australia where locals envelope travelers into the healing journey of their ocean’s coral reef. Sedona also has much healing to do after the destruction that ATVs caused to its fertile land. Now some locals are seeing another opportunity to rewrite the narrative and direction of Sedona tourism: Spiritual Tourism.
What would Sedona look like if we ReMembered who we are, where we came from, and where we are going? This can take many forms. But one example is to honor the wisdom of Native Americans. And to share in mindfulness their transcendent and transformational teachings…
Did you know that one of our Native American elders, Aquala, joins local event space, Sedonya, everyday at 10am to smudge the land? This daily awakening of spirit brings deeper connection to self and healing to the land. So, what would it look like if Sedona embraced more Spiritual Tourism to unite the hearts of traveler with the deep eternal sacredness of ancestral wisdom? What would they learn and how much more deeply would they walk away being transformed?
Looking forward to continuing these conversations and opening up more this Sunday at Vespa Healthy Italian Cafe.
