A mama and her 9 puppies came into the shelter. The pups are still nursing off of mom and will be available in a month. This is when they will be able to be adopted to their furever home!💕🐶

A straight update on the Animal Shelter: the options we've been exploring, a Cibolo partnership, a Humane Society partnership, and a standalone county department, are all still on the table. None of them are finalized. But each comes with a multi-million dollar price tag, at a time when every county department is stretched thin by our growth, and we simply don't have the kennel space to take in every stray dog in the county. In the meantime, we're keeping the shelter running responsibly within our current budget while the Commissioners Court and I keep working toward consensus. I’m thankful for the efforts and collaboration I’ve received from the Commissioners and Judge. This discussion will be revisited by the Commissioner's Court on August 4th, 2026.

If you're passionate about animal welfare, I encourage you to support the Guadalupe County Humane Society in their mission to save unwanted and abandoned cats and dogs. They could use your time and donations, and that's where it'll do the most good. Full update and more details in the link provided in the comments. 🐾
