A couple of months ago Truck Co.1 received updated rope rescue hardware for our truck. This past Tuesday night Truck Co.1 put it to use at our monthly company drill. The participants were met with a low angle rescue evolution involving an unconscious subject at the bottom of a sump.
The evolution covered hands-on patient packaging, assembling hauling and safety systems and their operations, anchor points, and communications. We also went over rigging a simple tower ladder high point.
Whether it be a car down an embankment, or a children injured sleigh riding in a sump, Selden FD has faced this type of situation before.

We are terribly saddened because we had to cancel tonight's showing of Jaws before it turned into a Sharknado. As soon as we have a rescheduled date, we will make sure to share it with everyone. Thank you as always for the support.

Unfortunately, due to the forecast and expected weather conditions, we've made the difficult decision to cancel this Saturday's Drive-In Movie Night.

We're disappointed, but the safety and enjoyment of our guests comes first, and we don't want the weather to take away from what should be a great evening.

If you purchased tickets in advance, you have two options:
• Receive a full refund.
• Hold onto your ticket and use it for our next Drive-In Movie Night.

Last night, members of Truck 1, along with personnel from several other companies, participated in a hands-on drill focused on non-traditional vehicle extrication techniques.

The objective was to utilize tools and equipment not specifically designed for vehicle extrication to begin rescue operations until specialized equipment could arrive on scene. This training challenged participants to think outside the box, adapt to changing conditions, and develop creative solutions under pressure.

Training like this reinforces the importance of resourcefulness, teamwork, and problem-solving skills when seconds matter most.

Selden FD Junior Company to host CarWash Fundraiser this Saturday

The Selden FD Junior Company will be hosting a car wash fundraiser this Saturday May 9th from 8am to 2pm. Come support our future firefighters and EMT’s.
