It only takes a few minutes for a parked vehicle to become dangerously hot for a pet.
If you're running errands, please leave your furry friends at home where they're safe and comfortable. What seems like a quick stop can quickly turn into an emergency.
Remember, leaving a pet in a hot vehicle is illegal in Pennsylvania.
Let's keep our four-legged family members safe this summer. ❤️🐾

🚤 Boating Safety Reminder
Boating is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, but safety becomes even more important on the water—especially as visibility decreases.
For boat operators:
• Always use proper navigation lights after dark
• Reduce speed and stay alert in low-visibility conditions
• Watch for swimmers, paddlers, and debris that may be hard to see
For swimmers and those near the water:
• Make yourself as visible as possible if you’re in or near the water
• Stay aware of boat traffic in the area
• Remember that boats may not be able to see you easily
Water environments change quickly, and it can be very difficult to see hazards after dark. A moment of distraction or poor visibility can have serious consequences.
Stay aware. Stay visible. Stay safe on the water. 🚤

National Great Outdoors Month is the perfect time to enjoy trails, parks, campgrounds, and waterways. While we hope your adventures are safe, emergencies can happen anywhere.
If you ever need to call 911 outdoors:
📍 Know the name of the trail, park, road, or campground you're near.
📍 Look for trail markers or mile markers.
📍 Share landmarks you can see around you.
📍 Stay on the line with the dispatcher.
The more accurately we can locate you, the faster help can get to you.
Enjoy the outdoors and stay safe!

Happy National Go Fishing Day!🎣
Snyder and Union Counties offer great local fishing spots, including Faylor Lake, Walker Lake, and Halfway Lake, but even familiar waters deserve respect.
If you’re heading out today, safety should come first. Always wear a life jacket if you’re in a boat—no matter how calm the water looks. Conditions can change quickly, and a life jacket can make all the difference.
Take a moment to check the weather, stay alert on the water, and let someone know your plans before you go.
Enjoy the day—but get home safe. 🎣

Today we recognize the hardworking men and women who keep our neighborhoods clean and our communities running smoothly. As you head out on the road, remember to slow down, stay alert, and give garbage trucks plenty of space. Frequent stops and workers on foot can create unexpected hazards, and a little extra caution can go a long way in keeping everyone safe.
Happy Global Garbage Man Day, and thank you to all of our sanitation workers for everything you do!
